Title: My First Student Lesson Plan
Post by: Tony (ASM) on November 03, 2011, 01:27:47 PM
I wanted to share my teaching journey with friends on here. I'm starting to teach one of my Guitar students Art lessons from today.
I've not introduced her onto Paint Basket yet, so that I can earn money by teaching the basic concepts. I will introduce later when she can then pay for the 'Rose Project', 'Portrait Project', Colour Buster, etc. like everyone else!

In my first lesson today I plan to get the student to try draw my picture freehand onto a square sheet of paper, made from an A4 that I'll teach how to cut. I'll then place my acetate drawing (picture 3) over the top to see how accurate her drawing was.
We'll then chat about grids and, I'll get here to draw a simple Noughts 'n Crosses grid on another square sheet of
paper then, attempt to recreate the drawing again but this time using the grid. We'll then compare her first drawing to the second to see if there is any difference in accuracy or, ease of drawing.
I'm hoping it goes well
Pictures here are to show the basic concept of what I mean. The last picture shows my original on the left, student (pretend) picture on the right and, my acetate over the top to compare:

:thankyou: Nolan, Ella & Val for your kind words of encouragement. I really enjoyed teaching my first lesson, even better than teaching guitar!  I can't wait for the next weeks hour session.
So long as I continue to progress with my own knowledge I should be okay. I've been adding too it from here even though I haven't produced paintings yet. I'm still solidifying and storing what I'm learning in readiness to dip into for teaching.
I'll post how I progress and, I may ask for ideas if I get stuck on history of famous artists for example (she's doing a study on Picasso and I know nothing about him!)
I'll limit what I post to prevent it becoming a like a free 'art course' on here!
Thanks for comments  :)

Tony, for information on history of artists or as a matter of fact anybody or anything, just check "google" on the internet. You will get all the info you need.

You will do GREAT teaching because you put your whole heart into what you do! Your student is the lucky one to be mentored by you!  I went through your music theory lessons which you so patiently taught and reviewed so many times!  You're a born teacher, born to teach, Tony, so I won't say 'good luck'! :flowers:

Liz! Well,  :thankyou: for such lovely words!   I love teaching and sharing with people. Sometimes to the extent that I end up spending more than I earn on the guitars, books, files...given to the student!  :'( lol :2funny:
I've learned to step back and discipline myself but, I find it hard  :help:
I haven't done any guitar/theory lessons for Youtube in ages. I'm getting lazy  No, the real reason being, I've given enough and after speaking to other Guitarists, we agreed that although it's nice and kind to share lessons for free, it also ruins livelihoods for Teachers. So, I decided to restrict mine. I no longer do song lessons but, I'll leave the ones I created.
What I learned enables me to be wise on here. I'll share a restricted amount but, I'm mindset not to 'give it all away for free'! Freebies don't pay my bills and are unfair to Nolan, Dennis or any other tutors livelihoods. :smart:
Thank you again Liz  :thankyou: ;)
