Thanks, Patricia.  It really is such a pleasure to write these.  I get to study (and learn from) everyone's work when I choose those to be featured.  Each one has something special that either introduces us to a new technique, ot reinforces something that we are already doing right.

Linda,

Sorry about that.  Nolan says the program itself sends out the emails to the addresses in everyone's Paintbasket Profile.

I just sent a test to see if I could send one to myself and it worked perfectly.  You may want to try it:

Go to the PROFILE button (Man in the green shirt on the top right of the page.  Click on your email address and send yourself an email (to that exact address as printed there).
Please let us know if it worked.

In the meantime, I will send you a PM.

Dear Mea;

I checked my profile and e-mail address for accuracy,
it is correct!!!

I did as you suggested and sent myself an e-mail.  I rec'd it
but, I had to try several time before an 'error' message stopped
being displayed.   Final the message was sent, therefore,
there may be a slight glitch somewhere in the program.
It might be worth following up on as soo many members are
missing the newsletter.

Thanks for your suggestion.  We will see what happens next month.

Thanks for your efforts.

Sorry, Annie.  My only job is to write the newsletter.  I am at a loss to figure out what's wrong.

My suggestion is to change the email address you currently have on your Paintbasket profile to another email account, if you have one.  I just did that to see if it's accounts other than gmail that are having the problem.

I'll be putting together another newsletter in about a week to 10 days, so we'll see if things are better.

In the meantime, I will send you a PM with some information.

I got the first 2, then nothing.

Any chance the addresses are in alpha order (or some order) and the sending dies before the end of the list?  Unlikely but worth checking... it is indead rather a strange problem. But there has to be a logical explanation.

Are the links for the older one still active?

The newest Paintbasket E-newsletter has been edited and is ready to be sent.  You should be receiving it in the next few days. I will send a message as soon as I know it has gone out.

Since there are a number of you who have trouble receiving them, I have done a bit of research and found some possible reasons why.

MailChimp has these suggestions:
Typically, when subscribers don't see your email in their inboxes, it's because of spam filters. If your recipients have looked in their spam or junk folders and still don't see your campaign, there are a few other things to investigate.

Is a particular subscriber not getting your emails? Ask them to add your From email address (members@paintbasket.com) to their contact list or address book.

If your From email address ((members@paintbasket.com)) is in their address book, have them check their spam filter settings to be sure that your content and/or address isn't blocked.

Are they using a webmail provider such as AOL, Yahoo, or Hotmail? These providers throttle delivery, which can sometimes result in emails taking about 24 hours to be delivered to a specific email account.

Other info from my research:
Could there be an internal firewall?  If you are using a corporate or university email account, ask your server administrator or IT department to handle whitelisting MailChimp's servers.

Also, I have tried on the next email to eliminate anything in the subject line that might trigger a SPAM filter.  It will have only the title and date.

I was very very sad to hear of Tousabella (Retta) passing, she
was a fellow BCite and a fellow Canadian.  She will be missed
and remember for her encouraging replies.

Thank you Nolan and Dennis for starting this Fund.
The Angel Fund will keep the enjoyment of Art alive for PB members.
It brings home the feeling of 'Family' that PB represents .  Thks, Indeed!!!!

Hi Mea,

The old timer here.  Just want to let you know that I appreciate your newsletters.  You are doing a fantastic job!!!

Thanks for mentioning Retta.  She was around here as long, I think as I was and unlike me, was an active part of the family.  We loved her.  She will be missed.

When I snoop around the Paintbasket site, I'm always so amazed to see how so many have advanced to become great artists.  It's still the best place in the world to learn to draw and paint.

I have done an authentication process with our email provider which should help to increase the deliverability of the newsletters - lets hope it helps.

The problem is that some ISP decide for you what "you" consider spam so don't even let your emails through. This means it not even reach your spam folder or inbox because your ISP has decided to sensor it on your behalf

This authentication process should help a bit

As for the Angel Fund, it has sufficient funding at the moment.  We will let people know when we need more funding -- maybe like an annual appeal.

CONGRATULATIONS,  NINA (NHC50) You were the first to answer the question as to which topic has the most views and replies.  And yes, the answer was Nolan's oil portrait course.

As of this writing, it has nearly 4000 VIEWS and more than 188,287 REPLIES.  WOW!

There are 34 separate lessons in the course.  My favorite is the nose class.  I love drawing noses.

While I was writing this, CATH sent in the same answer through the email system that is attached to the actual newsletter.

So, I will give both a SHOUT-OUT in the next newsletter.  Thank you both for participating.

Don't think of being overwhelmed... just dig in and enjoy painting.

Are the grand-children old enough to do finger painting along with you?  My daughter did her first painting, with a brush, at 18 months.  Still sitting in her high chair... I mean at 18 months, not now  ;)

Hi Annie, Yes, my grandchildren are all old enough and I had in spanned them from an early age too. The youngest has just turned three and she has her own paints and brushes and just adores painting and drawing as do the others, so there is hope that I have awakened their creative side. Strangely enough, my second youngest grandchild told me only a few days ago, that they are lucky to have a Granny like me for I have taught them so much. I felt very blessed to hear that because I do try.

Hi all,

Just a quick hello, im still here just not alot of art time at mo. From being unemployed I currently have 4 jobs, college and a cat now. Love seeing all the work everyone is doing. Mea, newsletter is great, I wanted to say a big thank you for the angel fund and hope the future winners enjoy it as much as I did. I do keep a check in when I get a minute or 2. Each update in the newsletter puts a smile on my face.

Love to all

Yep, we have cherry blossoms, especially in my southern-most state,Tasmania. There is even a town that holds a special cherry blossom festival in one of the mainland states. They had a lot of Japanese POWs during WWII, and the cherry blossom avenues grew from there.

So my iPhone and computer broke at the same time - got a new phone and got my computer fixed as of today - so am now able to read the newsletter - which was fabulous as always! And I of course loved, loved, loved Mea's comments about my TV appearance. I was really nervous that morning and it meant so much to me to have Mea just a text away while I was waiting for the interview to begin (they were a bit late!) - especially knowing she was watching it as it streamed live on her computer. She's amazing, since it was 5AM her time to get up and watch this!!  Sadly, they lost part 2 of the interview video, which was another 5 minutes about how I do portraits...but I'm glad they saved the video where I could proudly mention Paintbasket!!

So proud of my PB art sister!

Thanks Gita! And several folks who had seen the interview that I didn’t know did come to the show. That was cool. I sold 6 paintings that evening - which was helped by the credibility of being on TV I believe. As they say, any publicity is good publicity- and folks are still watching it on my fb page!

Oh, my goodness! I am speechless!  :thankyou: all so very much for the scholarship gift from the Angel Fund. I honestly don't know what to say. Although I haven't been as active here since Lou died as I have wanted to be (I have had to intentionally add other pieces to my life), I haven't abandoned my love for painting. In fact, at a retreat I recently attended, one of the pledges I made to myself was to approach my art with more joy and freedom. This gift is an encouragement for me to do exactly that. Can someone please PM me to let me know what to do next?  :flowers:

Thank you, my friends, for your encouragement. My plan, for the time being, is to finish the painting I am working on. Then, because I do not have quite as much time for painting as I once did (I'm working on the book of Lou's meditations & have several volunteer activities), I will be painting smaller studies that I can finish more quickly, using concepts that I glean from the Online Art classes.
