Title: Online Finger Painting Session
Post by: Fiona on February 15, 2017, 10:06:46 PM
Thank you for a great class Nolan, I enjoyed every minute of it. Got completely covered in paint, but managed to keep pace with you for most of it  :)  Here is the result of the class - as you can see there is a load of wet paint on the canvas  :2funny: :2funny:

cheers
Fi

 Where's your 'self painted' portrait?   :2funny:

This is great Fi, the only acrylics I have are mostly florescent colours that I picked up 10 years ago in Grenada. If I don't find any acrylics around here I'll just have to give it a go with those.  :heeha: Now that should be something!  :2funny:

So... any fingerpaintings in your near future?  ::)

 MY MY MY  😨😨😨

You guys were finger painting yeterday???

I will have to try that, sounds like therapy to create a happy mood.  Both paintings are great and happy.

Unfortunately, I am now book to work every Wed pm (when the live class is on for my location).  The rest of my schedule is more flexible.  I had been able to hold on my Tue spot for long but one needs to compromises...

Great job!  I hope to see more starry night posted soon.

I think I'll need some slip and slide splatting after I get through with this pastel dog. I'm going to post him, at a loss what to do with him.  :-\

Can't remember what size Nolan said would be good for the finger painting. What size board/paper did you guys use?
Title: Re: Online Finger Painting Session
Post by: Fiona on February 16, 2017, 10:32:37 PM
I used an 18 x 20 canvas board as it was the only size I had  :)

Thanks Fi, that may fit on my large board.I'll be using w/c paper with acrylics. Could be some pretty wild colours, will see what I've got when I dig them out. I did give some away a while back.  I think the size will be dictated more by how much paint I've got. This is going to be fun!!! Best not tell Lloyd.... I could end up being put ashore!     :2funny:

Thanks.  I start watching it... I may give it a try.  Really sounds like fun, as Dennis commented.

Did you guys use acrylic or oil?  I would think the first blue for the sky would dry before the second pass if done acrylics.  So would not blend as with oil.  Is this comment right or wrong?

Val I think Nolan suggested 16 by 20.
I used Watercolour paper..about 9 by 14.

Annie...I  did in Acrylics , so did Fiona I believe.

i think Nolan did in oils.

This was more of layering rather then blending so worked fine in Acrylics.

I used acrylics, I have loads of odd tubes lying around and I just grabbed some likely colours and went to town  :)  I am still walking around with paint firmly cemented under my fingernails.... And I've had to tye-dye the t-shirt I was wearing as well  :2funny: :2funny: I think there was more paint on it than on the canvas!

Thanks Zayn, I do remember Nolan saying no extra medium would be required.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this class (what I saw  :tickedoff: ). That Nolan is just too cute.... those little giggles like a schoolboy!  ;)    ;D

Umm, am I going to need to duck?  :peace:

Yap, likely 😂

You all make me laugh... looks like gloves did not work as intended either.

I will try with acrylics, more paint to play with.  I am giggling just at the though of trying a van Gogh with my fingers.  Yes, why stop at one index when I have 10 eager fingers to paint with.

Here is an idea, use one finger per colour... so no need to wash or clean them between different colours.  :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

Well done Dolly

Don't get your blood pressure up on recorded classes.  The pause button is my best friend, because I get behind as soon as Nolan does his first dip in the paint.  I paint slowly, very slowly, so a one hour video take many hours to run.  No rush!

:2funny: oh Val! You  must have a lot of patience to work on the same artwork for days together!  When I sit down to paint I don't get up until it is finished - that's why - Acrylics suits my temperament and Oil doesn't as it makes me wait!
Title: Re: Online Finger Painting Session
Post by: Val on December 05, 2019, 08:17:54 PM
Dolly, I wish I had more patience! Most of my paintings/drawings take about a week. My longest go was using only pastel pencil and if I remember rightly was almost a year and a half!!!  :faint:    I just had to keep putting it aside, but I am glad I kept going back to it and finally finished.      I just don´t like to give in, and finally accepted whatever time it takes... that´s what it takes.  :hang:       :2funny:

You guys are so funny... well oil suit my temperament.  Acrylic is dry long before I manage to get the first coat of paint on canvas.  Saying that I use acrylic for the challenges, otherwise I will never manage to finish in a month, and I am getting better and better at it.

As for oil, I just find (in full sight, I don't see anything after a while) my Koi Fish and Ladybug paintings.  I put them aside few years ago to cure.  They are nice and ready for the next step...

Tout vient a qui sait attendre ... hum, something like 'all falls in place for those who are patient and can wait'.
