Title: Wild Thing
Post by: robynann on July 13, 2017, 09:11:49 PM
Hi everyone. I have been MIA for a bit I know.. I had a wicked Sciatica attack that just wouldn't go away and had me in bed for the longest time. Boy I was so upset. I painted a bit but in severe pain so I finally gave up. The Sciatica attack caused something to happen to my condition and now I'm in horrible pain in my ankle. weirdest thing. I'm also having arthritis problems in my hands and arm. Yeah the arm and hand I paint with! or could it be carpel tunnel. I don't know.

I feel like I'm falling apart and all I want to do is to be left alone and paint!

anywho I was so stuck with my Oil Painting decided to go back to my roots of Mixed Media and apply it to Portraits. I Love it!! I'm developing a new style for me. I'm getting all down and dirty playing with glue and decorative paper and tissue paper, inks, alcohol inks, stamps, stencils and anything else I can find that isn't tacked down!!  :2funny: Layers upon layers of pure fun with Fluid Acrylics. If you have never used them you've got to try them. They are as smooth as butter. Here is one of my Creations I just finished. Tell me what you think. There are no rules at all. Just let your intuitive side take over and have a ball!! This was really hard at first as I'm such a control freak but now I'm really starting to loosen up.

Here is my Reference photo so you can see how I developed it.

I do still love my Oils and plan to get back to them soon. I want to do Nolan's new class. But for the right now I think I need to play a bit and get all dirty!!! :2funny:

    Robynann, I am so sad to hear of your discomfort and the problem you are having with your good painting arm. Having said that, the mixed media portrait that you did of "Wild Thing" is absolutely fantastic. My word, you are so good.  Getting down and dirty, throwing your cares into the wind is good, so enjoy it for you have done a splendid job.

We have missed you and your work, Robynann.  Sorry to hear about the ailments that make it hard for you to do your art.

The mixed media piece is super.  Happy to see the satisfaction you got from doing it.

I like this painting.
Re your back getting pain in your ankle is normal referred pain from the sciatica. I have degeneration of the spine and this is how my sciatica has behaved on and off for the last 15 yrs.  Exercise and walking is the best thing to do.

Thanks so much Sharon, Neil and Teresa.

The Sciatica is intensified because I'm in a Wheelchair and can not walk or exercise. Last night it came back again for a little while. I wish it would just go away!!!

I really do like this style of painting and hope to do some more..
