Title: Precious memory
Post by: Tezza1258 on January 03, 2018, 10:06:02 AM
I painted this today for my sonís best friendís birthday.
He has been a part of our family since he was 2. He turned 31 today.
In September 2017 he went on a trip of a lifetime to South America, having just graduated from University with an Engineering degree.
He came home full of joy. He had a great job and so many prospects.
He and my son went out to watch a band on October the 29th. On the 30th he took part in an obstacle course for charity.
Tragically, he dived into shallow water and broke his neck. He is still in hospital. He is a now a tetraplegic.
Another reminder to us that life is precious.
I used one of his photos of the trip as a reference.

:'(  Oh! Terri, how sad for that young man, one often wonders why bad things happen to good people. Bless you for painting a picture to remind him of the enjoyable days he has had. Having such a long association with your family, he must feel like one of your family.  I have a similar situation in that a girl my daughters went to school with, right from primary/elementary school through to high school and who, while growing up, spent a lot of time in our home, came away on holidays with us, and is still close to us despite the fact that she relocated to the USA for better job opportunities when we came to Canada. We are constantly in contact with her and see each other several times a year, in fact, my daughters look upon her as their other "sister".  We are all so excited as she is coming here for my youngest daughter's birthday in two weeks time ... a great 'family' reunion.

What a beautiful picture and so sad to read the story behind it. I think most of us older folk have similar stories to tell and we can relate to and feel the pain you are experiencing.
