Title: Can't connect
Post by: Maryna on January 15, 2012, 07:30:09 PM
Not sure who else is having the problem, been logged in for a very long time and then can't connect to the webinar, got the chat for a few seconds then off and then try to refresh but says nickname not allowed? No video, no sound, no chat, I feel so so  :'(

Me either!  Have been logged in for 45 minuates. Refreshed every few minutes.   Missed last week for the same reason.  :'(

Maryna, I have had the same problem, tried to re-load and no chat box said same. Shame, we will have to watch the replay. :'(

:'(Same here.  Tries to connect but says site has reached its resource limit.  I hope I will be able to use the replay because when I tried this week on the first lesson it got to a certain point and then stopped and would never go forward again.

I have a suggestion maybe for next time.
What about everyone who will def attend make a booking. However Nolan must check how much peeps they can handle on the server and only that many are allowed to attend the webinar, then we get a code to access, that way everyone who booked can get up. I know that will mean allot of people will not have access to the live class. First come first serve?
If someone then later can't make their booking, they need to free up their booking and then that place can go to another person.

Have not been able to connect either. How disappointing. It says resource limit reached.

I'm in the same  :boat: ...can't connect... was able to get chat...and that was it.  I don't think Dennis and Nolan expected such a huge response to the webinar.  PaintBasket is most definitely growing...  I will be patient and wait for the replay seeing that I have not done the first painting yet... which I will attempt tomorrow.

:'( I am also crying.   I only got the chatbox.   Looked forward to this all week and then couldn't connect.  Anyway we still have the opportunity to see the replay which is so kind of Dennis and Nolan.  But it isn't the same as watching a live class with all the chatting.

We all seem to be in the same boat :boat:  :'(  :'(  :'(  will have to wait for replay

Will wait for some more time ...

Same here.  Nolan will have to source an even bigger provider. Just tried again. Same. Resource at it's limit. Ah well, never mind, we'll see the replay, not the same though, half the enjoyment is the Chat Box!

Well can't connect either. Soooo wanted to see this.  :(

I too did not see the show, but I did enjoy chatting with people literally from all over the world!  Looking forward to the webinar in due course.

Perhaps Nolan can advise whether it's worth our while sitting for 2 hours next week and experiencing the same problem or will you have resolved the problem by then? I am sooo glad I wasn't in your shoes tonight, Nolan.   :1hug:

our hosting can't handle the numbers  :'( I am busy moving the site over to an even bigger host which should be able to handle any amount of attendees, but I didn't get everything transferred in time.

Did anybody get to see the class today? Our chatbox was also down so we had no feedback, we could just see we were broadcasting so continued the class for just in case...

I saw the whole thing. Nice job. The Nolan yell at the very end was a little bit  :idiot2: but the rest was super!!!  :smart: On the serious side, the improvements were awesome. Camera work, the little image over the big image. Impressive.  Great work guys. Keep it up.

I was able to connect for the last 40min or so  :yippee: but I so feel for the lonely little group in chat that kept hoping till the end    :flowers:

Great work Dennis, awesome camera work Nolan, and don't mind Claude, I called 'koebaai' at the end too

Now Claude, seeing that you've had full instruction now for two full webinar sessions, we need you to show us those two completed watercolours.  Come on, stop whining and get to it!!  :knuppel2: :knuppel2:

And the rest of us will wait in anticipation for the replay - we've learnt patience now  :D :D :-*

Count me in: I also wasn't able to connect  :2funny: I know one can see the reply as well, but it's not quite the same; it's nice to be a part of the whole  :) Not mentioning the ability of asking your own questions, hah! That's what's most precious to me. Anyway, since it's watercolours I guess I'll live without it... I'm sorry for all of those who were desperately in need of connection and didn't get one. Cheer up, there're still many, many more sessions to participate in!  :gl:

:'(  Nolan I went to the site you suggested on the test you were running and I couldn't see the video nor the chat never loaded. I had so hoped to catch the class since my husband had a full hip replacement on December 8th I haven't been able to do much painting.  I missed the first class but I am watching the replay and loving it.  Thanks guys I know you are doing your best.  It will all work out.  Looking forward to seeing the replay.  Thanks for all your hard work. I do so enjoy your classes!!

Hi Mary, you were too late for the test - the test had already ended, hence the reason you saw nothing.  ;D

PS - I am presuming you are refering to the replays of the 2 watercolor classes Dennis has held up to now - both are available on the Paint Basket TV page. Todays test was not a class, justa prerecorded video playing of me interviewing Dennis.

All right. I've been waiting on PBTV since 19.45 to 20.15 my time today (48 hours before the 3th watercolour lesson, due to Nolan's e-mail) and... nothing happened. Is that it? Or did I miss something again...? Was the final test completed...?  :heeha:

Hi Magda... I asked in another thread if the test is still on... Nolan answered yes he's testing right now.
It's now 6:51am Melbourne time... I've had less than 2 hours sleep, but forced myself to get up and log in... It's all for our benefit anyway.  So I'll just wait patiently...  :gl:

were you guys on the Paint Basket TV page here (in other words did you click the blue button at the top of the page to get there) or did you go to the http://www.paintbasket.tv (http://www.paintbasket.tv) website? The test was on the http://www.paintbasket.tv (http://www.paintbasket.tv) website (which is the new hosting server we are testing)

Hi Nolan. I just clicked on the usual blue button... I just assumed, I guess (duh!)  :(  ::)
Never mind. You had more than enough members anyway to help test your new server.
Hopefully tomorrow I'd have no trouble accessing the webinar.

:'(  :'( :'( Something terrible happened to me today  :'( ... On the one major art site I belong to, they had a discussion (not the first one about this) to search your name... this is to see if there are any other sites using your info or images without permission etc.  Various artists have discovered their works being used on sites not having authority.

I did a search last week...
I discovered a few using my name and/or profile photo on their site ...which by the way has nothing to do with me... they are spammers etc.  have reported them to Google...

BUT when I did another search today...got a few more which I reported...however the last link... was a T-R-O-J-A-N...  :cursing: :banghead: I probably have the best Internet Security/Anti-Virus...the one with the big K... it showed 2 was deleted, however nr3 could not be deleted... and I have all the settings on maximum security as well as to block anything suspicious.  I feel sooo lost...not sure what to do or how to disinfect it.  Wonder if it would help to format my hard-drive and just re-load everything from scratch.  :'( :'( :'(  (using my son's laptop at the moment)

Therefore I only logged onto the Webinar just after about 10... but couldn't get the chatbox going... nothing serious... I just feel so down about the above AND it is a brand new laptop ... I just hope and pray it can be saved.  Will watch the replay sometime.

Leana, how awful for this to happen to you, I can't believe the nerve of people to do such a thing. I had problems myself but this takes the biscuit. :o

My son was playing games on my computer over the Xmas period, via the internet of course and I ended up with 421 corrupt files, PC World told me these online games are nortorious, despite anitvirus programme running, they can hack anything these days. Hence 120 Euro to put right, think of what art supplies I could have obtained for that amount...........
Title: Re: Can't connect
Post by: Lillian on January 22, 2012, 11:23:48 PM
Leana, I'm shocked!

That's scary!!!   I didn't know such a thing could happen.  It sure is important to have the best security available on our computers.  Even then, I think they have a hard time keeping up with all the bad that's out there.

I think there's a way we can put a watermark on our pictures before we post them, not sure how that's done.  I'm not very computer savy.
Title: Re: Can't connect
Post by: sapphirelynn on January 22, 2012, 11:53:40 PM
OMG this is terrible Leana.  I did not know about this either.  Better make sure we sign our paintings and like Lillian said somehow put a watermark on them. The internet is such a wonderful tool it is too bad that there are those that have to corrupt everything.  Scary indeed
Title: Re: Can't connect
Post by: nolan on January 22, 2012, 11:55:35 PM
create a logo or image with a transparent background and then paste that over your photo inside your image program (like Photoshop) then save it with another name, eg save "tree1.jpg" as tree1-watermarked.jpg" so that you still have your original, unwatermarked image for use in other places.

Unfortunately theft is rife on the Internet as it is so easy to just copy and paste - that is why we watermark all our videos as well.
Title: Re: Can't connect
Post by: Leana on January 23, 2012, 05:50:09 AM
  Thank you everyone...

You see, even if you sign your work (which I do) or watermark them yourself in photoshop etc (plus the watermark  is put on automatically on the site I am on each upload)... people still steel them.  There is a program that actually lets you remove watermarks off a photo when stolen of the internet...and it only takes them a few minutes to remove it.  Well that is the talks on the site and there are quite a few techy people on there. If you want I can find out which program it is... but believe me it exists... so no matter how you sign or watermark...people can still get rid of it and use your stuff.

I have decided lastnite... that's the last time I search for my name and stuff.  What will be, will be.  It is just not very nice when people use your Name and profile photo on their site...where they have written a review on some or other product...it makes it look like I wrote the review... these guys are spammers.  When you get a lot of hits on your site... they like to use your details in their tags too... so people searching for you might clic on their link (even that it has absolutely nothing to do with my art or art in general)... voilla... they get extra hits...which help moving them up in Google search etc.

But to put a virus on a link I think is the lowest of the low.  Going down to the computer shop in about an hours time, will then know if they are able to help.  I don't mind if the 'format' the hard-drive...all the info I need is on my flash-drive... will see what they say and give you feedback.

:thankyou: again for your emotional support everyone...it truly is much appreciated.

What a pain in the proverbial Leana, sometimes I have a feeling these crooks and good-for-nothings won't be beaten however hard we try... BUT - I'm running Linux Ubuntu and don't have any problems with virusses (viri??) - ever.  And I'm not adding to the wealth of the fat cats either LOL   :sneaky:  'cos it's free.

It's a different story with the copycats out there though - those I choose to ignore, and then I just move on to the next thing..... like painting oil paintings in acrylic!!   :nosey:

..thanks to Nolan  :thankyou: :yippee:

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all your support...I truly appreciate it... phew , what a hectic past 2 days.

Went to the computer shop yesterday morning as they opened.  Got excellent service from the technician that helped me.  He formated the hard-drive...i.o.w. re-installed Windows from scratch... so it took the computer back to the original factory settings.  I had to go back to the shop (could only do that after my husband got back from work)...because when I tried to load my anti-virus...the pre-installed demo anti-virus couldn't be removed... they have a removal 'tool' at the shop.  Once that was done, the major job of re-loading my anti-virus and all my programs started as well as setting all security levels etc etc.  I only finished a while ago with everything... seeing that everyhting is up and running now...I started by checking my emails...then saw the notice of the class this evening... :'( ... I tried to log on just before 10... but experienced problems with the text box and the system kept buffering... (which I don't experience in the re-plays).  So all in all I suppose I am missing out totally on tonites class.   :'( oh well... like the saying goes... you win some, you loose some.

At least my computer is up and running and that is a good thing  O0

Where did you all get these? (I've seen websites where I could have downloaded other smileys, but I don't normally like downloading from websites I don't know ... I just don't trust them, after my sister got scammed, unless somebody recommends.)
