Title: POST PAINTINGS FOR MARCH 2018 CHALLENGE HERE
Post by: Val on March 01, 2018, 02:51:46 PM
:surrender:   MARCH IS A SPECIAL CHALLENGE MONTH!!!    :surrender:

Please check the guidelines for each challenge as they may differ slightly
This month is abstract month!  Don't Panic ![/i]  I promise it will be fun, and you'll have a few options to play with.   :goofy:      :pullhair:      ^-^

1/  The photo can be rotated left, right, upside down, right side up, or flipped! Whatever takes your fancy.

1A/ Pick your colour if this one doesn't take your fancy.

1B/ Please do not make any other additions or changes.

2/  Please use only ONE medium in your painting. (watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel) NO exceptions.  :knuppel2:
     * Of course you may use pencil to draw out your outline!  ;) (not getting caught out on that one again)  ;D

3/  Post only your finished painting. If you require any help/advice please contact your nearest mental health center.  :jk: Kidding!
Please post it in the medium appropriate Encourager Section where members can help you out.  :smiley6600:

4/  Have Fun!!!  Now Let's Go Paint!   :painting:     :yippee:

Please keep to just two colours. You can change one or both. You will be able to go crazy wild with everything in the upcoming abstract free-for-all in a few months time.  O0

Well done MaryLou.
I tried to paint it with acrylics but got lost  with all the lines  :help: and I couldn't get the lines thin enough  :faint:, so i think watercolour is the way to go, unless you want to paint it on the large size 😂

This entry has been moved to the Oil Painting Encourager Section.

Here is my entry for the painting challenge.
I used oilpaint on paper.
I first transferred the lines of the cabbage on to paper. These lines looked a bit like dancing figures to me.
So because it is abstract month I disregarded the photo at all, and started painting.

greetings,
Dirk

Sorry I missed that one.  I guess it is better then that I will not participate in the competition.
It's Ok with me, but I don't know how to withdraw. But Val will arrange that probably.

No worries Dirk, sorry I didn't get back here sooner. I love how the swirls create the dancers, it really is very good. However it doesn't meet the guidelines of this particular challenge.

I will move it over to the appropriate encourager section. Please feel free to enter it in the upcoming free for all abstract challenge coming in a few months time..... unless you have something else hidden in your imagination.  ;)

Haha Maria I don't think I painted coleslaw  just a cut cabbage head.
I would need more vegetables to make coleslaw which I do love to make and eat.

Great job Teresa, I was hoping to see an acrylic rendition. Did you create the values by thinning the paint or just adding on the darker layers after?

Thank you MaryLou and Val.
Val i just watered down the green colour for the lighter parts and for the darker green I used the paint from the tube, no water added. If it needed to be darker i just added more paint.
Well done Maria. What paint medium did you use?

Hi, everyone! Again Paintbasket gets me out of a funk and back onto the paper. This was super fun! It was really a challenge to create an abstract from something that was already abstract. Very cool idea and I hope I got the intention of the exercise.

Excellent painting Patricia

Alice your painting is excellent too BUT this time we were not meant to make our own abstract painting. Also not to use a number mixed colours sorry.
This would have been an excellent idea to use for the mixed medium challenge to put inside the carpet square.
