Watercolour over canvas paper prepared with watercolour ground. Splashed on bright yellows, pinks and manganese blue, then masked rocks out with plastic shapes laid on the wet paint; watercolour pencil sanding over and around the mask to outline the "rocks", added a few bits of torn up ogura paper and medical gauze for texture (waste of time.... the canvas paper dried too quickly for it to absorb the paint and it left no impression, so I glued it on instead); negatively painted around the rocks in dark blue. I made the colour satisfyingly deep. After all this wasn't meant to be a realistic painting (or not by the time I got around to painting the water anyway.... ;) ) Actually I'm quite happy with it. But all comments and criticisms gratefully accepted....

Thankyou, Teresa and Dennis. Mea, I was so surprised to see this in the newsletter! I'm thinking of printing it on a Tshirt or the side of a mug. What do you think?

A great idea to try it on a T-shirt Linley. Patricia
