Val is recovering from Internet problems so I'm helping her out.
Please try and stick to the photograph for your painting so everyone is on an equal footing.
Feel free to use the subject photos in your own creation BUT place it in the Encourager section, NOT in the challenge. Thank you for your ongoing support of these challenges.
Any single paint medium may be used including; watercolour, acrylic, oil, watercolour pencil, brush, inktense or pastel. If it is not specifically listed, DON'T USE IT! If you are unsure, PM me directly.
PLEASE NOTE: At this time do not combine w/c with w/c pencil, or gouache. There will be changes forthcoming allowing the more advanced painter to combine these mediums under w/c. Thanks for your patience.
When posting your entry, please list type of paint (w/c, oil, acrylic, w/c pencil, inktense) used. Appreciated as it may help someone with less experience.
Thanks, Brian

I was home today and needed something to do. We had extreme heat today so staying inside was a good thing. I attempted the challenge. I only had 140 lb hot pressed paper on hand. I do not like painting on this paper. It behaves differently with the watercolor. :( But here is the end result:

Thanks Mary Lou. I feel I my shadows are too dark. Like you said the plant and doors have come out well. I like the way you’ve done your shadows and and colour combination.
Thanks Trev, Love your earthy colours.

Fabulous paintings one and all! Makes me sad all of my 'stuff' is packed away.... :'( Hopefully won't be long now.
Keep those paintings coming! :painting: :yippee:
-
 Mary Lou. Your flower pedestal is amazing...completed within the first twentyfour hours of the posting! It takes me at least one week to study the subject, draw and re-draw it, and finally create my palette. I am in awe... I definitely like your choice of colors, they give the painting sort of a “New Orleans” look.
 Patricia, your work on sketch paper produced a lovely rendition of this photo. As usual you exhibit great control o your chosen medium.
 Trev, WOW! Another one of your surprises; definitely done in the recognizable “Trev” fashion. Good job.
 Gita, your choice of a blue-violet triad with a touch of split complementaries turned a slightly drab photo into a soothing composition. Well done.

Maria, your painting is beautiful. I can almost feel the smooth tiles. Lots of lovely light and great detail, especially awed by the detail you have in the shadow of the flowers. :smitten:

Great use of enhanced colour. A good reminder that water mediums don't have to be pale or wishy washy. Lovely job. O0
