Nicely done Gita. I'm a bit leery of breaking out my w/c again.... if I'm not mistaken it may be a year or more since I had them out!  :o
I know I will, as I still have great affection for them despite the aggravation they give me...  :tickedoff:        :2funny:

Beautiful orchid, Gita. I like how you did the spots on the petal. It’s both realistic and artsy.  :smitten:

Thank you Dennis!
Thank you Mary- Lou. The fever is continuing, but in mixed media. The background of this painting is in acrylic. The flowers are in WC, called btw. Odontoglossum Cervantesii 😅. Origin Mexico. Odonto= tooth, glossum= tounge. I like the shiny look of the bronze background. Love to hear your comments.

What worries me are the yellow patches that have been added in after the painting was completed.
Because it is the background some of the flowers MUST overlap the yellow  O0 At the moment the yellow is all around them and you were afraid to touch the flowers.

I see your point Dennis. The yellow patches are actually the shiny bronze acrylic colour which I added in the end. I shall try to overlap them with the flowers in some areas.
Thank you for your suggestion!  :smiley6600:

Modified the background. Photo looks like it’s overdone , but in real the blue contrasts well with the gold. This painting will need a large Passepartout around it to calm the rather scattered background.
Something like this... I can play around with an app to choose the colours of the passepartout.Very helpful before buying.

Orchid of the day in WC.  This is a hybrid of the Odontoglossum species. All comments are welcome.

Sharing today’s orchid: Dendrobium williamsonii

Mea, less drama today.. 😅

The one below is modified after Mea‘s comment to darken the middle. I also added pen and ink lines.

Gita

Soft colors.  Maybe it's more romance than drama this time.

Looks like the center go use more dark.

Practising further on my orchids. This one is called Cymbidium.
These Orchids are so difficult to paint. 😌. I missed getting the contrasts in this one, since I did not use masking fluid. Instead I used acrylic ink for the whites.
As always all comments are welcome.

On my venture to master painting  these orchids, I came across split primary colours. I created my colour charts with 6 primary colours and the resulting orchid is below. I am really fascinated by painting only with primary colours.
Love to hear your comments and constructive critics. I spent some hours on this.

:thankyou: Mea! Yes, I think I was influenced by my cousin during my childhood who used to draw for her botanics in college. I used to sit with her books for hours.  :)
Thank you Emma Lee for your special comment. :D
