Post your painting for February 2019 Challenge here.
1/ Post only one painting per person. Post only your finished paintings. If you need help, post it in the encourager section.
2/ Any single paint medium may be used including; watercolour, acrylic, oil, watercolour pencil, brusho, gouache, inktense or pastel. If it is not specifically listed, DON'T USE IT! If you are unsure, PM me directly.
3/ Feel free to simplify wherever you find it necessary.
4/ When posting your entry, please list type of paint (w/c, oil, acrylic, w/c pencil, inktense) used. Appreciated as it may help someone with less experience.
4/HAVE FUN!! :painting:

I worked on this for a while, got lost in all that material and had a mishap with the baskets. So I found this quite challenging.
This is done in watercolor and on Arches 140 lb paper (cold pressed).

Thank you Patricia, Pav, Trev and Gita.
I agree Trev we are always jumping in quickly. I am always in search of something to paint so the challenges appeal to me. Your painting is well done and I love the way you have done the baskets . You have a talent for simplifying which I admire. It was a toughie for sure!
Gita, I am hoping your painting is acceptable for the challenge as I think you did an amazing job on a very difficult painting.
-
I agree Mary lou, Trev can simplify and it looks so painterly. Val is yet to comment. In fact there is not much interest in oil painting on paper...😴
-
Ty Njn and Gita, Gita pls enter the challenge! The more the merrier. I always love looking at the different submissions and seeing the different approaches, I always learn by seeing others efforts...
-
I still can’t submit mine since I don’t know if it’s a painting or mixed media. Waiting for an answer from Val. I drew the outlines with ink instead of pencil.
I shall link the thread where one can see my rendition with oils on paper. I might paint another one in case it’s not accepted.

Ah I see your dilemma. It’s not an ink and wash and you used been as your guiding sketch. Personally I’d let it slide...it’s a lovely painting by the way. You executed the details very well...I hope Val let’s you submit :smart:
-
Mary Lou and Trev,
Whoa --- pretty high standard there.

Ty Mal, looking forward to seeing your submission!! :heeha: :painting:

Irrespective of the challenge part, Trev, I am thankful to implement Vals photo :1hug: and discover something new. Never had reflected about painting with oils on paper, till now. Maybe that’s why challenges also exist... to discover oneself ::). Now, I am actively going to pursue this and get some more experience since I see some benefits for my personal painting habits.

   Trev, your submission is also excellent. My word this is going to be a challenge and a half to cast a vote. You are both such good artists.

This is my submission, this time done with oils on double primed watercolour paper. After the practice with the first painting this repetition was a bit easier. :)
-
Fantastic Gita! I’m so glad you entered and you did such a superb job. Also such good detailing! Hopefully a few more last minute entries and this will be a really fun race. Much more exciting when there are more entries don’t you think?
-
Wow, these are all so good. Difficult choice!

Thank you Trev! I love to see the interpretation of fellow artists. I find it so inspiring!
Btw. Here are the “selling sisters” for comparison 😂😂. The left painting on unprimed paper and the right one (my submission for the challenge) on double primed paper.

I missed mentioning earlier, Patricia, sorry, I like your rendition with the black background! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
-
:thankyou: Gita, I think you were referring to my mixed media submission in which I used a black background because I could not see clearly what was in the background from my printed copy. I think I need a new printer. However, I quite liked the black background. Thank you again.
