Title: Grand Canal
Post by: njnjgirl on July 19, 2021, 04:37:53 PM
I am trying to do loose watercolor again.  I watched a video where the artist uses a credit card to do the painting of the buildings, etc.  This was my first try, it is fun.  I will try this again and keep practicing.  In the meantime, I looked at this and thought maybe ink would salvage it.  Not sure I succeeded as to me it looks a mess LOL...your comments are appreciated.

Thanks Bill, yes, so hard, I keep trying and it always looks a mess to me .  I do admire those that can paint in that style.

Yep, painting loose is not easy, we get carried away and next minute it looks like a photo again
You have done a great job, I love the water reflections on this one  :smitten:

With the ink lines, it looks like pen and ink with WC, and I like it!
I also think to paint loosely is tough. Maybe we have to wear glasses which makes a blurred vision, so that we just see shapes and colours while painting!😄

Thanks Gita and Elizabeth.  I do admire loose watercolor and would love to be able to do it as easily as I see those do it on Youtube. I also took a class with an artist here who is well know for her loose florals.  Still just can't "see" what details to leave out..

try standing further back from the subject - put them way across on the other side of the room, them paint them and see if that helps
