Title: Danielle's portrait drawing
Post by: Danielle123 on April 16, 2014, 10:09:47 PM
Mid way to , Drawing of little girl. I have added and added tonol value about 10 times. I think i might have got it this time, but who knows I might have to add more tonal value.  Let me know what you think. Ps. There is a bit of outside light on the left end side of my drawing.

Danielle, very well done.  The light might be washing out the value.  However,  just double check the value at the bottom left chin, also the left forehead, compare against the original. You might want to soften the hard edge on left cheek.  The white line takes away from the contour  and makes the side cheek look flat.  Hope that's helpful.

i think the shading above the left eye appears as if there is a  slight dent....

Overall the drawing looks great Danielle..

Danielle she is beautiful.  You have done an awesome job.  Still think you can blend our the white a fraction.   Then it will be perfection!

Absolutely beautiful Danielle. The only thing I see is that there is no different tonal value between the eyes and eyebrows, it appears to me to be the same as above the eyebrow. I think it might give her that slightly more sedate look that she has in the picture. Not forgetting that I have not ever done portraits before so Im no expert. Overall you drawing is magnificent.

Don't know how I missed this glorious little creature!!! What a mass of hair and Danielle you have done such a great job of drawing it! You have done a fabulous job of the whole portrait, in fact!! the only thing I would say, is look at her (our) left cheek. . . .there seems to be a line of dark shading where there shouldn't be one. . . .I see it in the photograph, but I think it needs to be feathered out more and blended into the value of her cheek.  What do you think?  I think you have captured the likeness so very well. . . . .you go girl!!!

PS: I think Sally has a point. . . . .

:thankyou: Jill, Lisa Sally and Bev, I do so appreciate all you advice, it helps me better my drawing.
 Bev which white do you mean the same that Cyril mentioned, if so I have done that change, but I did not posted that correction yet.
 Sally, what do you suggest I do for the white below the eyebrow, should I put a bit of shade right under the eyebrow?  There is a bit of shade but I guess it is not noticeable enough.
:confused:Bev,  do you mean that little straight line about 1/4" from the left side of the mouth?
Thank you all so much.

Sorry if ive confused you Danielle, I guess I mean that in the photo her eyelids are slightly darker and coming out of her eyelids up towards the eyebrow slightly, I don't know what that part is called. This will give a little more depth above the eye.

beautiful so far Danielle

the shading on the left hand side of her face must still come out further to show her rosy cheeks O0

Lovely Danielle, I still see a bit of what Cyril commented on though.  The shading above the left eye is too abrupt and it makes it look like a slight indentation there.  I think just adding a bit of light shading to the light area will make for a smoother transition.  I truely love everything else about it, superb!  O0 O0    I agree with Steven and I agree with Nolan. . . . .just fiddle a bit with that eyebrow area and then sign it and hang it and sit back and be proud, very very proud! You have done a magnificent job here girl!!!  :1hug:
