Blue tac can be found in Canada under the name of Tac-n-stik at Walmart. It works just fine.

I bought  a similar product at a local office supply store in Honolulu under the name UHU Tac.  Was $2.49 for a 3 oz. package on sale.  It's white and works better than the kneaded erasers I've tried.  Made in Germany.

Excellent, Danielle, except that the eyeball keeps grabbing my attention.  The pupil seems to have a tail, like an apostrophe.

Other wise, it is very well done.

:thankyou: Mea for your lovely comments.  I know it seem strange but this is a closeup picture and that is I think the silouette of a lady taking the picture.  You can see the original on the first page that Nolan posted.  Bot thank you for paying attention.  :-*

OH, I checked it out -- I see what you mean.  Yikes, it looks like there's a duck standing next to the lady photographer.

You did such an excellent job on this. (minus the duck, though)

Nolan  :thankyou: for your word of encouragement.
I have more time to draw than you Nolan cause I am retired,  :yippee: no young kids, no teaching, no computer tech.  One thing, i kind of cheated a bit on some part of the face, I squigled ( figure 8)  i hope this is accetable.  I was loosing my patience, :pullhair: yes me ;D ;D ;D

Mea, you are nit picking me (a duck)  ;) ;D ;D ;D that was actualy Nolan's version I though it was the picture he posted on this.

Jay and Sally  :thankyou:  for the lovely comment, your encouragement is trully appreciated.  :)

Bev  :thankyou: as always for the encouragement.  Très bien dit ta phrase en français, toi aussi tu t'améliore dans ton français.  Merci pour ton effort.  - selfie not for a long time :) but in the near future I may make my daughter when she was young ( from a picture my hubby and I cherrish) but I want to do it in colour. So you will have to wait   :D
Val  :thankyou: also for your encouragement.    O0  . Sorry I did not purchase the class for the bird. Trying to learn on my own for now.  It can become pretty expensive if I purchase all I want to do. $$$ :faint:

Wow this is not like me to wright a book. :2funny:

Cyril, well done!!!! :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

Here my drawing-

I have been fiddling with it for several days and decided "enough is enough". This was a great ending for Portrait drawing and I learned a great deal from Nolan.  :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

I did cheat on this drawing. Tried to erase out the whiskers, but couldn't get them light enough. Adding shading to one side just didn't work. Next I tried using a white colored pencil - didn't work. Finally tied one of my calligraphy "go to's" - Dr. Martin's Bleedproof White and a crow quill pen. Just to be sure I went over the whiskers a second time, once it was thoroughly dry.

Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Excellent work Peggy and Cyril :cloud9:
Cyril - I agree with Danielle, just darken the sweater so that it fades more into the background. At the moment the tonal value is the same as the neck, so it looks like he has a double chin ;D
Peggy - great tip about the pen, works great  You could also have used the scribe to score the paper O0

:thankyou: Nolan - I did try the scribe, but it just didn't show and I didn't want to darken the tones anymore.

when using the scribe you must draw over it with the chisel point or it fills in the lines. Doesn't matter, your pen worked just as good, if not better O0

awesome job Louisa, your best drawing yet :congrats: :cloud9:

what is bothering you about the nose is the tip - the nose goes darker as the tip rounds off to the bottom of the nose, just add that shading in and it will look great O0

Vidar,

You did wonderfully well on this portrait.  I particularly like the way you made the freckles (or age spots?) on his skin look so real.  Mine always come out like polka dots.  Yours blend so nicely into the skin.

Good!  Goood!!  Gooood!!!

it is difficult, and very time consuming, to draw hyper realistic, but you are off to a great start.  :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
Just keep practicing, as your eye and hand get better you will eventually see and get more and more detail in your drawings O0
