Dennis, I won't be able to attend this lesson as my sister from South Africa is arriving today for a few weeks stay so I won't be doing much art for I want to enjoy her stay.  Haven't seen her for three years and am so excited.
Enjoy the lesson everyone, I will be thinking of you all.   Patricia

Thank you Dennis for this lesson. I can't make the browns that this horse has. I have tried so long, and they do not come out as I want. I'll be watching closely and for sure I'll learn a lot more from this lesson. Thanks, Doina

I am just popping in quickly to check on the horse painting and forum news.  Thank you so much Sharon and Denise for your messages.  My sister arrived safely and we are having a wonderful reunion, she has gone to bed for the time difference in our countries have knocked her out so I have a few minutes to "catch up".  Lovely to hear from you Denise, thanks so much. I am trying to get my sister interested in art for as young girls she used to be able to draw so very well.

    Gorgeous paintings of the horse Sharon, Danielle and Natalie.

I am afraid I won't have any time for art for the next two weeks but will try and check in from time to time. Miss you all.

Patricia

All the horses are very well done indeed. Excellent

Denise, don't forget the markings around the eye to show that there is a brow, etc.

Have not commented sooner as we have been having gale force winds and power outages here. Power came on about 15 minutes ago and the wind is still howling :heeha: Our east coast which normally has hardly any waves is sporting large waves at the  moment.

Doina,

Good work on the horse .

I think the neck seems a little skinny for the size of the head - maybe I don't know enough about horses.

Still, you did well.

Hello, everybody.

This is my rendition of Horse portrait lesson.
Horses are my favorite animals, so I was looking forward to this lesson. I followed Dennis and also tried to add different features  from my reference photos (a mane, for example).

The most important feature for me was the horse's eye. I really liked the way it come out. Dennis mentioned  that with the highlight it looks more photographic but the blue paint didn't go there (probably a small piece of masking fluid left). I didn't want any more correction because I was afraid to spoil the work I satisfied with. So, I left it as is.

:thankyou: Dennis for a great lesson!

:gl2: everybody with your paintings.

All the best. :flowers:
Lidiya.

Lidiya, I must say the eye is beautiful.
The other eye if you will look at the picture does not stand out like that to a point. You need to soften it out so it does not come to such a sharp point. Hope this helps. Keep up the good work.

Nice painting of the horse.  Love his perky ears and bright eye.  Looks like a lot of work to make the zig-zag rein across the top of his head.  Nice detail.
