Josie, this painting is very well done. Be proud.
Perhaps you could try to flatten the paper, with it curled a bit,
its hard to photograph it correctly.

:thankyou: Robin Nataly and Sharon. Your right Robin about stratening the paper. I tried maybe I could have ironed it.  I had a lot of trouble with the  little bush in the left, just could not get it to look like one !!!! Thank you ladies for your encouragements. Looking forward to see your paintings.

Dear Retta thank you so much for your compliments. Water colour is not easy and I didn`t find this subject easy but pursaverience conquers all. I know what you mean about the sky just keep at it you will win in the end. I have been to some art exhibitions that I get surprised at some of the weard paintings but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think we at PB are during very well I only wish I could have gotten that bush to look like a bush  :2funny: :2funny:

Danielle,

Nice painting of the mountain.

Love the bush on the bottom left corner.  Nice sky.

Snow(balls?) on the mountain look too much  alike.  Might look better as uneven patches of snow.  (Unless that's how they really look)

Here's my attempt at Mount Ngauruhoe - I don't know which was harder - the painting or spelling the name of this volcano! My favorite part was doing the mist...

Sharon,

Nice work on the volcano.  Nicely done sky.

Did Dennis explain what those two trees are in the center of the painting? They grab for attention -  I want to demystify them.

The paintings (last 3) are well executed.    Actually not an easy subject to paint even though it looks simple.
Mea those two "trees" are actually the very large species of flax and what you see are the "spread out" flowers on their stalks.  Most of the flax plants here in NZ are much smaller than those in the photo.

Thanks, Dennis.  Wonder if that's the same kind that produces the flax seed I put on my salad every night?

I wouldn't think so. These plants are big. In South African the woodpeckers and Barbets build their nest in the flower stalks which can be anything from 6" (150mm)  to 8" (200mm) in dia.

:thankyou: Val, Retta, Danielle, Mea, Selen, Robin and Dennis.  And I agree, Dennis - simple to look at, not simple to paint...but those are my favorite lessons!
