Title: Scratchboard Lesson Dog

Wow this was a really hard lesson.  I did increase this to a 9X12 Inch drawing.  That might be one reason it was so much more difficult!!  Suggestions for improvement would be appreciated.

This looks marvelous Sherri  :heeha:   I'm just going to have a look at the eyes on the ref. ...... I'll be back!  ;)

It looks as though HIS right eye (our left facing) is just a bit too low. Brilliant exercise though, his markings and fur look excellent  :congrats:

Thanks Val  I think you are right  I will put my template over it and see how far off I am  Not sure I can fix it.  This one was a hard hard lesson.  I spent lots of hours working on him.

Sherri the doggy is beautifull,   :clap:  The only thing i find is that the boddy is very light compaired to the face, he may be lighter there but it brings his body to close, maybe grey it down some how with watered down ink.    Hope this makes sence.

I would agree with Danielle. Some of the drama has been lost.

Yes I understand what you are saying Danielle and Natalie.  I am going to wait to get feedback from Nolan before I make any changes.  That way I can do it all at one time and maybe he will have some suggestions as to the best way to go about making the fixes.

I agree on dulling down the body, even mine ended up a bit too light for my liking

I haven't found scratchboard. I did get a few small clayboards and painted a coat of black acrylic paint on it....it was very hard to "scratch" any lines. Maybe I'll try India ink on the next one.

You are very brave to try this one Sherri,especially on such a large scale.The only size that I have left is 11x 14 so I've been procrastinating.Mea did I spell that word right? Great job Sherri.
