 I love your brief stories of your adventures! :heeha: The closest I can come to that one was waking up in a field in my sleeping bag with a Brama Bull standing over me! Good thing I was lying down! :faint: :2funny:
This lion looks to be a beautiful challenge....I think I'll get out my pastel pans again, a bit more challenging than the tiger me thinks! ;D
-
I am probably not up to being ready to do this class, but I am sure going to try!!!! I love working with the pastels!

Dennis, I could not access the Reference picture for this lesson. The message that came up was "Web page not available". I tried several times without success. However, the video was fine to watch. I don't know whether other members have experienced the same problem but I thought I would alert you to it.

Can't get reference photo either.

No worries, Val.
It was just a matter of comparing the non-working link with a previous working link.
Dennis just left out the .com in his link.

Very beautifull lion Patricia,, his fur is looking so soft. Excellent. :yippee:
-
Wow...beautiful job, Pat. You are sure speedy! It's great....I can feel the floor shuddering under his roar!! Terrific! :flowers:
-
Patricia,
Great work on the big cat. I looked back at Dennis's painting and see that his gets darker beyond the light mane, both to the side and bottom. Yours does not seem to have enough contrast, making it look cylindrical.
All the features are well done, though, especially that mouth!

One very angry King! Excellent Patricia.
-
:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou: so much Danielle, Retta, Mea and Jill for all your sweet and encouraging comments.
Mea, thank you too for your observation about not going dark enough which is very easily rectified. This is a failure of mine - as Dennis says, I am afraid of the darks. I always do everything too light with no contrast/depth. So thank you for pointing that out to me.
Patricia
-
Patricia, Excellent.   Do the changes Mea suggested and you will have a beautiful painting of the Lion.
I have rectified the problem for the PDF. O0
-
:thankyou: Dennis for your lovely comments and I will make the changes suggested. Hope you had a good break albeit a short one and thank you for the PDF glitch being solved.

   Beautiful roaring lion Fi. My only suggestion would be to darken the crease lines above the nose to give it more dimension but wait for the more experienced artists to give their take. Nevertheless, a great job once again.
Patricia

He's gorgeous!
-
Fantastic Fiona. Love it!
-
Beautiful Fiona!
-
Beautiful, Fiona    The techniques are all there. O0 A darker background would have contrasted the lion better - still excellent as is O0

Fi,
Love the fur. Your hard work paid off on this one.
Not sure about the top row of teeth. They seem like they need to be set in more - maybe more shading around them??

I struggled with this one... I finally got through it but think it's not very good. I'm still learning how to use pastels but loving the medium..
-
you are getting a good effect on the edges now, especially on the left hand side. That looks great.
It is just the shape on the top of the head which you need to adjust according to the reference O0
-
   Well done!
-
Well done Robynann, you are coming along beautifully with pastels. Patricia
