Here is my rendition of this class - what a fun class this was as well!! Thank you Dennis :flowers:
It's amazing what a few well placed highlights can do to create the shine and reflections on what would normally be a boring flat surface! I learned such a lot from this class :)
As always crits, comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Lovely painting Fi, the blue bottle was a difficult one and you've done it. Congras.!

Hi everyone,
I had to step ahead on the lessons because this is one of the topics I like the most about pastels, still life. So the bottles are an excellent lesson to master the technique. Here is my rendition to the bottles and I can wait to paint the kettle next.
Please comments and crits well received.
Cheers

Thanks a lot Mea, Kathy and Fi. Those words mean a lot coming from such great painters.
Dennis, thank you for an enjoyable lesson and your encourage words.

   Juan, lovely bottles, so neatly done. Your medium is obviously pastels for I have just seen your cat too which is excellently done. Great work for sure.

Positively splendid Juan O0 Beautiful colourings and the highlights look fantastic. You've caught the light beautifully.
-
:thankyou: Patricia and Val, your words are always appreciated.
Patricia, you're right about pastels, I really like this medium; I'd wish to have more time to pratice. In the mean time, I'm really putting a lot of effort on every lesson; and above all, it helps a lot when you to post your work for reviews to correct and acquire more knowledge.

Juan, we are all in the same predicament by wishing we had more time to practice. Life is very busy and when I do have time which is normally in the evenings, then it is dark and my eyes aren't that good. Anyway, it is wonderful that you are putting a lot of effort into every lesson for it really shows in your work which is really good.

:thankyou: TheBryce, much appreciated..

I am afraid my bottles are second rate quality, a little bit askew and not quite symmetrical.
But the drawing was fun to do :)
-
Vidar,
The colors and blending on the bottles are beautifully done, though. The bright yellow background is magical!!

Vidar: I really like your bottles. Sometimes old bottles are not symmetrical. Good job. Kathy
-
your bottles look round and full and shiny, yeah a bit off here and there in shape, but being pastels you can try and even the shape out a bit. The blending is great as is the shading.. the yellow background goes so well with the blues and red, and the darker yellow.. Bravo!
I'm getting more and more behind you.. waiting for next month and more $'s :( dang fixed incomes!!!!
-
Vidar, you have executed the techniques very well
-
:thankyou: Mea, Kathy, Lin and Dennis for your kind feedback.
-
   Vidar, there is nothing second rate about the bottles you painted. You did an excellent job.

Vidar,
I agree with all, your bottles are fantastic!! The background helps to eye the bottles much more. Congrats.

I'm going to call mine wonky bottles in a row. I'm feeling a little frustrated because I'm struggling so much but I have to remember I didn't pick up a pastel or brush for over 8 months.
-
Oh Lisa, I love your wonky bottles. :smitten: They have so much character, color, and detail. :painting:
-
Lisa, you still did an excellent job, technically    If one is looking down at the bottles, the bottoms will never be flat as you have them (a very common fault) There will always be a rounding. Put a bottle on a table and check it yourself. The higher the viewpoint the rounder it gets.
The other mistake is the top of the metal stopper that is very off-center. Other than that, very well done O0
-
Lisa,
Other than what Dennis mentioned, I think you did a really good job, especially for having been away from painting for 8 months.
Love the color on the bottles and the well-drawn grasshopper.

Well done Lisa. It does take a couple of run throughs to get back in the swing. Personally, I like your metal stopper...looks like my cockeyed tower in my NZ skyline painting! :crazy2: :2funny: I'm not kidding, check it out! :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:
Overall, you did a great job, excellent grasshopper. O0

   Lisa, your painted bottles are lovely even if you feel they are "wonky". You did a great job. Patricia
-
Lisa: Your bottles look great. The crooked top gives it uniqueness.
-
Great job Lisa, nice reflectiond, and I like the grasshopper.
-
Lisa,
I like the wonkiness and specially the white one with the grasshopper, well done after being away for some time!! O0
