Thank you Val!

Lisa, this came to me as a surprise... the blue of your sky was so vibrant.  I love your sky.  If not a secret  ;) what blue did you use?

A very special thank you to Dennis, Nolan, and PB staff, for the PB prezzie but mostly for all the good classes you offer.

I would never attempt to paint a sky if not for having followed the Landscape - Sky lesson.

Many thanks for providing the tools which have enriched my life so much.
Best wishes, Annie

Thank you Annie and congratulations, your clouds were absolutely beautiful, and well deserving of the win.   :flowers: I spent ages trying to mix the the colour as close as I could and although it wasn't quite as bright as the photo colour I was happy with it I ended up using ultra French marine as it seemed to need the purply colour and then I added a little Crimson and titanium white. My main issue was using oil and trying to build the clouds while the sky was still wet so I learnt a few new lessons  O0 ;D :)

Thank you to all those who voted for me, an honour and so exciting to actually get a painting entered  :flowers: :flowers:

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your kind words.

I have done a lot of mixing also.  My painting is a little more brilliant than the photo but not as much as Val's photo.

I have a Ultramarine crom M. Graham.  Mine has a 'dirty' purple tone which I dislike, and always look different then the one Nolan uses.  Pure out of the tube, my phtalo blue is much closer... but is behaves differently when mixed with other colours.

I have put a post re: ultramarine and blue ultramarine... and learned that one looks at the pigment number, not the name.  Mine is the same bit it is in walnut oil, instead of linseed.  Maybe it makes a difference.  I will post this question in the correct forum.

Thank you for your reply.
