This still life painting was commissioned by my friend's mother for Christmas. She asked me to change the background colour to light beige, because it would better fit her other paintings on the wall. I only saw this painting on my PC screen, so I hope the other colours are kind of right.
It is acrylic on stretched canvas, size 24x30 cm (9,45 x 11,8 in)

Sarlota,
Yes, it does have a Van Gogh feel to it.
Love the vase. Check the spot in the middle of it. The brown color seems to be melting like chocolate too low into into the beautiful greenish color.
I think some of the red poppies need more shading to make them POP.
There's not shadow from the vase on the table. Where is the light source coming from?
Can you fade out the dark outline from around the table edge?
A few tweaks away from a great Christmas gift!

Sarlota, I think you have painted a fine replica of van Gogh's famous painting. Your friend's mother will love this.

Thank you both for comments. I think that I will not add any shade of the vase, because I don't see it in the original painting. But surely I will fade out the dark outline from around the table edge. I can see now, that it's too dark. And I will work on the shading of the red poppies. And I don't like the violet flowers as well. They scream too much.

O0 It looks very Van Goghish with the dark outline on his original with 'in your face' flowers! I noticed, too, that he does not have any shadow under his vase.

I don't think I would mess with the violet flowers. I really like them. A little more shading on the poppies as others have mentioned.

Thank you Bryce and Paula. I made some little changes, added shadows to the poppies and didn't touch the violet colours anymore. And the painting is already away, waiting to be a Christmas gift. ;)

Wow Ribezla - this is very beautiful!!! :heeha: so vibrant and full of life!

Thank you, Dolly. :) I love this painting too. I have already painted this replica for 3 times, but unfortunately, none of them is hanging on my wall (christmas gifts for others).

The vibrant colours really pop out. Well done. O0 Hang on to this one.
