I have been doing South African animals for my daughter's rec room as she has done it out in an African theme and I decided to try Nolan's acrylic zebra reference picture but did my own colours and changed it somewhat as far as shadows were concerned and no background which is in keeping with the other animals I have painted. Critiques and comments are always happily received. Thank you. Patricia

Beautifully done Patricia

:heeha:  Patricia! Your Zebra is gorgeous! I'm sure he will always hold a special place in your daughter's heart and look wonderful in her rec room. :smitten: My Mom also painted African animals. They hang in our office at home and bring me much joy.

:thankyou: Win for your lovely comments.
:thankyou: Kathy for your sweet message. Yes, I am sure that my paintings will bring my daughter much joy because I did them for her and besides that, being born and raised in South Africa, she has grown up with the love and respect of the wild animals which brings to mind, that when she was a teenager my husband decided to take her on a game walk and the Game Ranger who had accompanied them said that if they came across a Rhino, just to run behind the nearest tree for their eye sight is very poor. His words were no sooner out of his mouth when they came across a Rhino who charged them. Well, that put the end to my daughter ever going on another wild walk.
:thankyou: Denise for your love, love, love message which is much appreciated. Bless you.

:thankyou: Josie for your lovely comments.
:thankyou: Pav for your super comments. No I painted the zebra on pastel paper. I would never think of painting directly onto a wall as I am not that confident yet.
:thankyou: Jill for your sweet comments.
:thankyou: Mea for your encouragement.
:thankyou: Sarlota for your lovely comments. Strange to say, the ears worried me a little but I tried to do the best I could.

Patricia, this is so lovely! :smitten: I laughed to read about your daughter's rhino encounter. When we lived in Namibia, we got chased by one. Fortunately we were on a game drive, not a walk.
-
:thankyou: Maryna, I don't know how I missed your lovely comments and my sincere apologies. I appreciate your encouragement. Thank you.
:thankyou: Susan for your lovely comments too and yes, we have also had quite a few "near" and scary encounters especially with the elephants because my husband, being Canadian was in awe of all the animals and would venture far too close for comfort, despite me telling him not to get too close, reminding him that these animals are wild and unpredictable but needless to say, it all fell on deaf ears. We spent a lot of our vacation time in the Reserves and deem ourselves so blessed to have seen and experienced the animals living in their own habitat. We can learn such a lot from nature.

:thankyou: :thankyou: So much Linda and Zayn for your comments. Oh! Zayn, while I have had some hair raising experiences, I am blessed to have seen and learnt about so many animals in the wild and I wouldn't change it for a thing. It leaves you with a very healthy respect for them and nature and we are so much richer for the experience.
