I have been sitting here looking at the beautiful roses and am just amazed! . everyone has done such a fabulous job! Sorry I didn't get my vote in. It would have been a hard decision to make as all of you are deserving. My congratulations to Val for being the winner. Your rose is awesome! Mine is sitting here half finished. Not sure if I can get it to look even close!

I agree with you Val, no 4 Rose had a deeper colour on the edges & the back ground was darker thus the rose stood out more.   O0

Congratulations to Valweb for the beautiful painting of the rose.  I feel very honoured to have been chosen as a finalist and greatly apprecate all the kind your words regarding all the entrants.  Thanks to both Nolan and Denis for helping us to do these.  I look forward to putting the lessons to good use on future flower paintings.

I liked all the roses and the variations were very interesting. it was nice to be in the final five and totally unexpected. I enjoyed all the comments and the fact that people made the effort to actually explain why they liked their choices. Congratulations Valweb I like your hard edge look.

I've enjoyed reading peoples comments and opinions about the Rose paintings as much as admiring everyone's challenge at it.
eChaney, don't let your Rose whither on the easel, caress it with strokes of beautiful colour and post it here for us to see. Don't let the fantastic high standards of the winning 5 put you off. Be inspired by them, driven by them and, hold your Rose with pride because of them. You can always do more paintings.  ;)

:thankyou: Everyone!   This is so exciting.  A month ago I counldn't even paint a rose.  They turned out flat, flat, flat and all one colour.   I still can't believe that I actually won the challenge.   :heeha:  :yippee:

I give all credit to Nolan for his unselfish teaching and demonstration on how to paint a perfect rose.   Dennis thank you for all the time you put into these courses.  Much appreciated.

I listened carefully and then applied what he taught.   It showed in all the rose paintings as they were all so lovely.  Each one was different in a way because we all have our own style of painting.  I loved all the comments for each and every rose and couldn't wait each day to read them.

You are all special and a big  to you all.

Choose to make every day a good day
