Lets draw Mez :-)

Hi Guys,
I started the course at the beginning of the week. I've loved reading through previous posts in here and looking at all your drawings. I've now built up the courage to post my two from this week.
Thanks!

Very nice, Mez!
The rocks are very good. They just need some darker shadings.
The berries are "the berries"! Just work on your shading. It's a little bandy. Shoot for making smoother transitions from light to dark.
I'm looking forward to seeing more from you!

Hey there Mez. Welcome to Paintbasket. The Lets draw course is fabulous. You will amazed at what you will be drawing in a very short time. You did very well on both of you drawings.
Steve gave you good recommendations for making nice drawings even better. The gradual blending will make the berries look rounder and mor dimensional. You got the dimensional feel beautifully in the rocks. It will be even more dramatic if you go very dark in the shadow areas.
I look forward to your next drawing.

to the course Mez! You're off to an excellent start, don't be afraid to push those darks.... I think almost all of us started out the same way! Come to the dark side.... it's awesome!

Thanks Val, I think I have made improvements on the berries. I then re did the rocks but I think its lighter than my original lol. Back to the drawing board
I'll post if I think there is markable difference otherwise I may just move to the mug for a change.

Don't let yourself get stuck too long Mez, you'll find you will start to use more and more of the techniques as you move along. Take what you have learned from this piece and carry it along into the next. Then you will sit back one day and go... wow!
Did I do that?! It all comes together like magic! A change is as good as a rest and keeps up our interest so go get that mug!

Mez great start. it's not easy. As not everyone can do it.
As my friend said one day "my brain and hand are just not connected" no matter how much she tried she could not draw what she saw, no matter how much i encouraged her she gave up and said she had talents in other ways.
You are showing a good talent.

Mez, it's great to have you here and on the course
You are off a flying start - especially with those rocks
The berries are great too - just add some more contrast to the berries themselves by darkening the darkest part and then shading towards the highlight area
with the rest of the course

Hi Peoples, so after a little drawing break I'm back at it. You may notice some interesting shapes
as I didn't trace, but I had to give it a go
I still love checking out this forum all the time and admiring all your work!

Mez,
Happy to see you posting your work. Well shaped for freehand work.
Your scumbled fish looks good. Try to avoid dark lines (like the ones we call "coloring book lines"). Be sure to blend the dark into the light so that the line does not stand out.
Love your little teddy bear.

Nice work, Mes.
You are bringing back old memories from the time I did these drawings. I had a devil of a time with that barn window! Yours looks better.
Keep at it.

Nice job, Mez!
You should add some more contrast to the right support on the window awning to make it stand out a little more against the similarly toned background.
