Aerial Perspective

Already did this one a while back, but have a good question on something like this.
The foreground should have more saturation due to aerial perspective and the background less saturated.
Ok, makes sense. But what about if the focal area (here, the waterfall) is the focal area AND in the background like this? Do i still make just that area more saturated than the whole background all around it?

There is very little distance here and the focal point is basically at the back so not much opportunity to apply aerial perspective here. Maybe just a touch in the distant trees behind the waterfall (in the gap formed by the river)

Got it Nolan. If the waterfall were much much farther, then it just really would even apply as a focal point, so no sense in putting in more saturation in that case. 
In this case above, like you said, no need for it really. Glad that's settled
