Very nice, Ella. I'm sorry you're gonna lose it.
For those of you who have complete rooms for your hobby, I'm envious and very happy for you to be so fortunate.

Thank you, Nolan, for sharing the 'professional' side of this hobby, too.

If I had a beautiful view like Anya, I would paint all day, and with the spacious studio and comforts like ValW, I wouldn't have to go out at all! They have it made, alright!
Ella, you'll do just find wherever you are! Where is that video of the artist who went into the woods and sat and painted out of his little car?! I loved it! I can't even remember his name! A portable studio is what he had!

Liz, we have it made?? your the one who lives in Hawaii
Liz, I just finished watching that video. It is under "Anything Arty" titled "Funny Video" it's the second one from the bottom.
Such a good video, just goes to show you , all you really need is a brush, paint and a canvas.

"My studio is where I paint it." My husband closed in our patio for me to paint. I find if I have to pack away each time I don't paint.
What I battle with is my aching back (I was hurt in a motor accident some years ago).
Any suggestions on how to
overcome this?
Do most of you stand/sit or lie down when you paint or do you have a special chair etc.

I have a 'special' chair. I can't stand or sit for very long. It's a high dollar all leather and very soft office chair. (I say high dollar. $300 is high dollar to me.) It's pictured above. I, too, have back issues but this chair makes sitting a lot more comfortable for a lot longer period of time. It's fully adjustable, too.
I couldn't possibly sit on a stool for more then a few minutes. Tried that already.

Anya, I really enjoyed the video!
What's with the rag and blue paint that he wipes over the canvas? It must be diluted acrylic paint, like a wash? And it was interesting that the skinny trees were painted from bottom up. I never thought to paint that way!

Valweb, I have back and shoulder and neck pain that I deal with as well.
I too invested in a very good chair ( from art store) that is adjustable and is very very comfortable. I think that is so important, especially if you are dealing with pain.
Remember to get up and stretch and walk around and change positions a lot. I get so involved sometimes and stay in one position for way to long and then pay for it. Also make sure that your easel is at a good height so that you are not bending over and arching your back too much.
I think the best thing is stretching and moving around.

Liz, isn't that interesting that he did the wash over the painting, I have only ever done that before starting a painting.
It kind of unified everything, didn't it?
Isn't the music great?
I love the way his dog is sitting next to him the whole time
