:yippee: :yippee: I have just had my first sale since registering my business. I know it has taken a while but at least it is a start. This one sold through my Etsy shop which I was actually contemplating closing down after setting up my own shop. Maybe I have to rethink that. What do you think?

Congratulations on the sale, Zilpa.

Can't advise you on what to do because I don't really have enough art to sell.

:thankyou: Mea, I  will be anxiously waiting to hear that the painting arrives safely. Encaustic paintings are a bit more challenging to send as I can't have anything touching the front of the painting at all.

:yippee: Congratulations Zilpa!!!  Sounds like encaustic art would be best displayed in a shadow box type of frame.

Do you pay to be on the Etsy site? If it is free or doesn't cost much it might be worth letting it stay up for a few months and see what happens.

:thankyou:Val, setting up is free, they take 3% commission which is pretty cheap compared to galleries. I have pulled out of the gallery all together now as it got way too political and bitchy for me. Which is sad but sometimes you got to do what you got to do. The only thing I don't like about Etsy is that you have to ship the painting off before you get the money, because the money gets paid to Etsy and they in turn pay you after taking out their cut.
I am waiting to get paid and make sure the client gets their painting then I think I will close it and advertise the heck with my site.

Well, the costs are reasonable, but crikey I wouldn't like parting company with my work until I was paid either. Having been 'stiffed' before by dealing with go between internet setups, I am much happier working with direct payment and sending out commissions when required.

That's brilliant Zilpa.  O0

I'd love to try something like that....my big problem is the closest post office is about 50 miles away, and known to be not all that dependable. I suppose there are some good points to a more 'civilized' location!  ;)

Well there is always digital art. I still play around with that a bit, but must admit I do prefer getting my hands dirty.
