Scoobie, your painting of the tree is very well done. The sky and the misty mountains and the cottage as well. Just a pity you made the background trees too dark. They should be very light as they are still in the mist. Now they are competing with the blue gum tree. Gray them down and you will have an excellent painting.

  Hi Scoobie and  :bigwelcome: to the forum. You've painted a beautiful Blue Gum tree. I agree with Dennis that the background trees need to be toned down a bit. Well done
Dennis & Nolan are the first 'lessons' I've had since a rather disastrous first year of art in highschool.

My blue gum is in a nz setting I think I need to shift all the background down the canvas but it is too late,

Your blue gum tree trunk colours are bright and the tree stands out well from the background, Leana. I had trouble mixing the dark tree leaves - I think I'll try another ultramarine - you seem to have the colour right here.

I've only just found the reference photo! I have still got a lot to learn about where things are on this website! It would have been very useful!

Hello
This is my first painting ever. I painted it after the online lesson. I haven't got a password yet so i can't put this in a gallery.

Dennis, Kuku didn't get a password last week, though she got a confirmation e-mail that she was joining the class. Last lesson she watched with me - she has the same address as me so perhaps that is where things got confused.
