Thanks for the well wishes, Sue. Diving into a project of this sort with the desire of making money would be the proverbial pipe dream on my part.  I think we should all try and leave something of our better selves behind for those who care now, or might care in the future.

John, I couldn't agree more. That's why I ended up (self) publishing my book about the years that my husband and I were missionaries in Africa. And why he also self-published his children's Christmas book and two volumes of meditations (he was a pastor).

After a two year hiatus from the illustration and gift card project I am back sitting down at my easel once again. My excuse for the absence was three surgeries and a small bit “writer’s and artist block” during that time period. I have several inked illustrations that are just waiting on the watercoloring. I’m stuck on how to approach the different backgrounds. Hopefully I can finish something soon.

So looking forward to seeing what you paint next, have really missed the adventures of your little critters!       I know whatever you put out will be either fun... or amazing... probably both! Whatever it is I can't wait to see it.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and well wishes. My attention to painting has been very sporadic for some time now due to an onslaught of health issues in the family. I’ve begin three separate illustration layouts more than a year ago and yet to paint them. I can’t seem to make decisive decisions on the character placement in the various backgrounds.  It seems that I have become very tentative. I’ve recently begun working to improve my understanding in the basics stuff such as color mixing and values. I’ve tried books in the past with little success. Maybe I should live in a tree because “the monkey see-the monkey do” thing seems to work best for me.
