Don't worry too much about the paper in the beginning. The main thing is to take what is available to you at the moment. As you progress then you will soon find out which paper suits your way of painting. It can be cold or hot pressed, smooth or rough. I put down what I will be using as that is what I have in stock at the moment. It can also be loose  sheets but a pad or block is much more convenient.

I know this is a bit confusing for the absolute beginner. The main thing is not to go too overboard with buying very expensive equipment. I personally just buy middle of the range brushes, etc. and get the same quality painting as if I had used very expensive ones.

I think I goofed. Went to the art shop today, bought all I needed for the watercolor class, brushes, color everything but.................... bought this paper,

arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg! Did I goof? It say Oil, Acrilic, Gouache but nowhere does it say Watercolor!!!!

No. you did not really goof it. It's not the normal watercolor paper but it says the following

These acrylic pads are comprised of a high-quality, lignin-free, cold pressed cellulose paper that's acid-free and archival.

It is made out of paper - same stock as the watercolour paper but processed slightly differently. Acrylic and Gouache are waterbased paints. From what I see it will work for the classes. As they say in the classics - Time will tell!

Claude,
I have a feeling you won't be happy with that paper.     It has texture/ tooth that accepts thicker paint well.
I've seen it.  It's not very absorbent and watercolor will tend to float on it and move around.  It's ok if you like that effect.  It might give you a more abstract type of look.
I prefer 140lb Coldpress paper.  I like the watercolor pad as the paper doesn't buckle when it's wet.

I've done a fair bit or watercolor painting and I'm anxiously await to see what Dennis has for us.

Thanks Lillian for that explanation. Fabriano are the makers of watercolor paper and I have not heard of or seen this particular paper at all. I suppose it is in the sizing that is added to the surface that will make the difference.

So I walked in the art supply store and bought all I needed for the watercolor class and was rather proud to see it would cost under 50$ so I mosied along to the brushes because Dennis had mentionned a comb brush and since I don't have one of those and I can't live if I don't have one of those, I picked one up for 6$ and that's when it happened. Bang! Kaboom! Zchilitzx! As I was heading for the cash register there she was. The most beautiful studio easel in the whole wide world and........ gasp......... on special at 50% off. Now a little voice in the back of my head said: "Hey dum-dum! You already have four easels. You don't need a fifth one!". So, of course, being who I am, I slapped the back of my head and that really shut up that stupid little voice so I could concentrate on wiping off the drooling on my chin that this gorgeous easel had produced. So now, thanks to Dennis  and that little 6$ comb brush I own 5 easels. My wife seeing me carry a 6 foot long box in my studio asked me somethig that started with "ANOTHER" but I shut the door and could not hear the rest.  I am still in my studio, door locked, trying to find an explanation for the use of 5 easels. This was yesterday. I'm hungry!

I'm the eldest of 5 children (3 boys and 2 girls). And as a result I was the one that used to get all the hidings (Because I did not see to it that the others did not get up to mischief  even if I was not near)

Now because of that, I have developed a condition that is known as "Sloping Shoulders"
