I really struggled with this ! I re-did this 4 times , something about making trees that is hard for me , hopefully I will get better after this , After looking endlessly I have lost my 1st tree at beginning of course to compare. Any comments or thoughts are greatly appreciated

If it's any consolation, Diane, I had problems with trees, too. Just kept practicing until I got them right. I look closely, study the overall shape, make a rough sketch, then refine it with details and shading.
You can do this!

Diane, I think you and I share a similar challenge! We forget that trees are surrounded by their boughs, and leaves!!! I know, it was a shock to me as well.
When doing trees I still catch myself out at times.
Take solace, the more you draw trees the less likely you are to leave their backsides showing. Nothing quite like a well dressed tree!
It will come.

Diane, hopefully this will give you hope and not totally horrify you.
This landscape course that Dennis did made the world of difference to me. The first one, I was just so thrilled they looked like trees!
The second one I got a bit cocky and just kept adding, and adding, finally stopped myself before the poor thing fell over!
So you see, it will get better! Trust me, if I can do it, I know that you can too!
