Whew - this one took me hours and hours over two weeks to complete. Silly me - I thought it was going to be an easy one to paint!! But wow, it was an amazing class - really stretched me as an oil painter and I think it turned out pretty good. In fact, I posted it on my Facebook page and someone sent me a message and said they'd like to commission me to paint her parents house that is located on Lake Huron!! My first oil commission! That being said, I'm very open to any suggestions for improvement.

Thanks Nolan from an exceptional class. Can't wait to do more of your landscape classes!!
Cheers,
Sharon

Sharon,

I can understand why someone would want to commission you after seeing this.  Beautiful.

My only concern is the the dark value of the farthest mountain.  Atmospheric perspective should make it a lighter tone - more gray blue, I would think.  Just a light glaze maybe?

Great contours on those mountains, by the way!

Thanks Mea! You’re right. I’ll try to do a glaze. Yikes - sounds scary to attempt!!

Sharon

:flowers: :flowers: :flowers: Beautiful scenery, Sharon!  I am really impressed with your perseverance to create the foliage, lake water with reflections, and wood color and details, especially.  :)   ~Liz

Excellent painting Sharon I agree with Liz the water reflections and beautiful.
I don't find a problem with your mountains as it all depends where the light comes from.

Thank you Liz and Teresa! I’m really happy with this painting and I think I’ll leave the mountains as they are for now. Mostly because I’m too afraid of messing things up!!
Cheers,
Sharon

I finished the Boathouse painting finally.  I started to toss it with the trouble I had with the water the first time, I am glad I kept at it.  Getting experience with the technique of the foliage was worth it.  Everyone's painting's in the group look great.

Thanks everyone.  I am glad I finished it, I have been a bit distracted but I am getting back at it. I did do a glaze on the mountains as I thought they were to close, should I retouch this area?
