Warwick's homework for Let's Draw Pencil Course!!!
It will include all of my practice drawings and scribbling since day 0!
Enjoy them like I do!
Ok here we go - Day 0 - Tree in 10 minutes
Honestly I don't know if it's ten minutes.
Comments welcomed!

PS: thx Val for the forum posting tips! I had 4 drawings down already and I knew ppl have been checking them out (of course, 15% of the view counts were from me muhahahaha) but I didn't know where I should post and didn't know how to insert images.

Warwick's Stroke Exercise

Stroke exercise trial 1 (also testing if the subject line will change)
Details
Question/Poll 1 = how many pieces of paper do you put below the drawing paper?
Question 2 = why are my vertical lines more wiggly than horizontal lines? You probably can't tell from this pic. Holding the pencil too tight?
Duh
question 1 = if you have a glass table, do u still put some pieces of paper below your drawing paper?

Woooo hoooo! First landscape drawing! The eraser did wonders to the lighting! It was so fun. Probably need to erase more next trial.
Comments welcomed!
Question 1 - how to avoid random dark strokes for the sky and the lake? Use the speared or wedged shape pencil?

Yeah! This was a challenging exercise! Took a shortcut by printing out instructor Nolan's blank chart.
The 2H to B side was hard. Need more practice.

Warwick,
Wow, you have jumped right in. Nice work on this land and seascape.
Yes, it is fun. I call it the "Instant Artist" exercise.
Will be fun to watch you go through the course. Many of us will attest its importance in improving your skills in rapid succession.

Warwick,
Yikes, I don't have any answers for your questions. Did I just flunk the test?
Your wiggles and squiggles look good to me.

Hello Mea!
Thanks for the encouragement! Oh you most certainly didn't flunk. My questions were part of my "open" thought process; maybe I'll figure that out through more practices.
Sincerely

Let's call it a ... SPHERE

I just can't call it a ball. Don't let me explain
. It sounds more elegant as a sphere.
Anyway, now that it's uploaded, I think I should have darkened the shadow more...argh...

Glad you got everything sorted! Great start!!
Yes, it's always good to have a couple/few sheets under your drawing paper. I usually have 3 or 4. I find it is much easier to attain the soft transitions. Also a spare clean sheet to lay under your hand so you don't smear your drawing while working on various bits.
As for your 'one-way' wobbly lines..... I have found that many people find one direction easier than the other. Just takes practice. You are going to hear that
a lot
around here!
Then there are folks such as myself....I'm just naturally wobbly, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
You're off to a rip-roaring start and I see that you are going to progress rapidly! Have fun and I am breathlessly waiting for your next masterpiece!

Yes, Warwick, it happens a lot that when we post something, we see it differently. Once, I made four changes in about 10 minutes, as each new photo revealed another thing I had missed.
You are doing so well. Best part is that I can see your delight in what you are doing through the humor in your postings.
Keep at it.

Warwick, a very warm
to our PB family. You are doing really well so far and I think you will be shocked to see how much you will progress as time goes by. Val rightly said that some of us are now naturally, a bit wobbly of which I am another one ... thanks to the ageing process
. Anyway, we will be on the sidelines cheering you on to the finish. Enjoy it as we all did.
