Oh, my! ART!
Mea Meets the Master

I had the pleasure this weekend to work with a well-known and respected master artist in Hawaii, Harry Tsuchidana (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Tsuchidana
). At 85, his body is spry; his memory is incredibly sharp; and his creativity is boundless.
Details
He uses lots of bold color and abstraction, both of which I rarely ever use. I was quite a challenge. By the end of class, I promised to give his methods some thought and today did a mixed media piece in graphite and watercolor pencil of a favorite spot, Laie Point.
Details
I can just hear Harry now saying, it's not bold enough. It needs more color! Baby steps, Harry; baby steps.

After looking at some of his works, I'll bet you were a challenge! Colours leaping off the canvas, abstract shapes... I'll bet he had fun with you though!

I bet that was inspiring Mea. Always so interesting to talk with another artist and hear how they approach their work and how art fits into their lives.

Thanks, Trev, Val, Patricia, and Mary Lou.
It was such a unique experience. It's like we were talking to each other in two different languages. Luckily, he had an incredible sense of humor.

Zayn,
Thanks, yes it was. He has invited us to a collage demonstration at his studio. He really liked our group.
