.Have started this painting a while back but I don't seem to find the right purple .its always either to blue or to pink . I need some advise please

Bert,

Very nice piece.  Love the old-fashioned windmill.  Nostalgic.

As for the purple,  my thought is that if it's too pink, VERY slowly add a tiny bit of blue until you get to the right shade.

If it's too blue, split off a small amount of the pile and see if you a small amount of red will make a difference.

Just thoughts - no technical expertise to even have said that - just made sense, though.

Perhaps altering the mix with a different blue or red?

Aloha Bert,
Try Ultramarine Blue and Alizarin Crimson or Magenta.  You need hues with blue bias to get purple.  To get a little value you can use a tiny mix into white and increase as you darken to tint you want.  Your painting looks like you could use darker purple though, but to lighten a dark purple would take a lot of white.  That's my two cents.  :) ~Liz
