Hello Everyone!
You cant live in South Africa and not paint aloes so I thought i would give this one a bash. Fun to step away from the wild wetness of watercolour into something more direct and assertive! I like the light I achieved in this but I overworked the aloes cacti too much and would have preferred to have had individual cactus "leaves" like Dennis has in his. It just became a bit overly simplified i think. Also muddied up the horison "pinky" part by accident a teeny bit.
Could always be better, but what a blast of fun!

Thanks Dennis and Nolan!

Trev,
This looks great. Has excitement from the brightness of the colors. Good on you for trying pastels.

Trev, you have done such a good job of the aloes. They are so vibrant and I just love your rendition.
Also congratulations on being the recent recipient of the Angel Network Fund for you are a very deserving member of our community.

Love how the background brings the aloe into sharp relief.
Beautiful colourings Trev, I feel a messy session coming on!

Thanks Mal your kind words have always kept me motivated to keep trying since the beginning! Thanks Pat, the news on the scholarship left me completely humbled and gobsmacked at the same time. A real honour and privilege that I plan to take full advantage of
!!
Win i must say i enjoyed that too. As im sure you know my obsession with watercolours is insane but once I start with other mediums i enjoy it just as much. When i do art, i get this happy buzz in my head and all my issues disappear. Im sure you get the same! Quite unlike anything ive ever experienced before.
Thanks Dennis and Val! Where would any of us be without your guidance and advice? Dazed and confused somewhere!
Have a great evening/morning/afternoon ahead wherever you may be!
Cheers
