My Sister gave me a set of Polychromo pencils as a gift and I have been experimenting with them, mainly in my little sketch book  :). Its amazing how many techniques there are on how to blend them etc,  :heeha: the mind boggles.

I used Nolans Graphite pencil class template of the Cowboy Hat and Barn  to attempt to do it in the Polychromos.  :)  Its done on Normal cartridge sketch A4 paper.   Believe it or not but there are about 5 different colours blended in the wood and as many in the hat  :heeha:

Oh, new fun toys that you put to good use, Win.

Nice to see how a lesson in one medium can de used to experiment with a different medium.

Thanks for sharing.

Well done, Win! If this is an experiment, I can't wait until you create something that isn't an experiment!!

Win, I looked all over for this drawing and finally found it.  It is fantastic in coloured pencil and you have done a super job.  I remember the lesson in pencil very well and to see it in colour is excellent too.

:heeha: Wow Win, this beautiful. I love the richness of the color. How do you like the polychromes? I haven't tried them yet but have heard wonderful things about them.

Still catching up on posts!  :run:

This is beautifully done Win.  O0   It really is amazing how many colours and layers go into our drawings and paintings. The result says it all, excellent job Win.

Thankyou Gita KathyS and Val  :thankyou:.

Kathy I am a Graphite and soft pastel fan where its all so much more moveable than colour pencil so I am not too sure I can say how I like them.  Im intrigued with the many processes one can employ with CP so shall reserve my answer until I have more experience with them under my belt  ;) :) :)

Beautiful job Win. You found layering to do the trick - took me a bit to figure that out. What method did you use to blend?

Thanks Barry.  :thankyou:  I like the layering effect.

Blending:     The top 2 planks of wood I used surgical spirits  :2funny: (it actually works quite well on cartridge paper  ;) ) the rest  I used the CPs to blend themselves,   with the layering I found that worked quite well.  :)
