Prayer

Hello everyone! haven't been active on PB for a while (vacation time
). I have completed this drawing some time ago, but only recently I managed to post it here.
I wanted to experiment more and try something different this time, so I decided to add color to my graphite drawings. Everything started from an anthropomorphic prehistorical sculpture I saw last summer in an expo. It inspired me to create a drawing based on it. Regarding the vision, I wanted to bring my subject into the contemporary, so I decided to add an abstract background containing a pattern derived from a prehistoric piece of jewelry.
I've titled it ,,Prayer'', which could be interpreted in different ways - the idols that people worshiped in primordial times, veneration of the Sun or both of them. The red color represents fire-purification-life, but also death (ritual sacrifices that many of the communities practiced back then). The spiral pattern depicts time passing and the life cycle. I've also inserted some key symbols from Runic alphabet (those for earth, Sun, man, water, wealth, journey, day, gift etc).
This is the story behind the drawing. It is the first time I used mixed media (graphite, ink and colored pencils), so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for looking and please let me know what you think.

Rebecca, this is amazing. Your stone work of the figure is so realistic. I love that you brought in the spiral behind your figure. Well done

This resonates with me due to many similarities in artworks of the ancient Mayans. Beautifully done.
