I've been asked to donate a couple of paintings for a fundraiser for a group that supports Asian women and children that are victims of domestic abuse. They can't be priced at more than $200 each. Found the ref photos on Pixabay - they're approx 4x6. Any thing I should do to improve them? Good thing I'm not a sweet eater - I'd be heading over to the grocery store right now to pig out on pastries!

Sharon - They look so real.
I am assuming that there is no background although the camera seems to have given it some muted pinky-bluish tones.
Even though I hate painting backgrounds, I would add a muted one - maybe a yellow wash to the cupcakes painting and maybe a blue to the twinkie one.
But that's just me talking. They are great as is.

Thanks Mea and Susan! And the background is just the off white from the paper. Since they're such small paintings I worry a colored background would overwhelm. Let me ponder that idea!

Here they are framed. Any other thoughts on painting the background based on seeing them framed? Backgrounds are often times scary to add!!

Hi Sharon,
I presume that these two paintings are also for your caterer friend. Personally, for that purpose, I would not alter the background. But that is just my opinion.
They look scrumptious!!
Well done.

Cathy and Val! And no color in the background will be the final choice!
And Cathy - this is for a nonprofit art show coming up. Doubt the caterer would ever serve twinkees at one of her fancy dinner parties - although it might be a fun addition!!
