Thank you, Nolan.  I got carried away with the hatching and lost the concept of different widths.  I will use the spacing better when I make the pencil and paper teddy.

I am not happy with this one, but wanted to share my progress.  This is my 2nd attempt at drawing a cross hatch cup on paper. I am going to start over again.

I can see you understand the hatching process - next round use a 6B and see how that works for you

Look at you, Mysti.  Already a show off with your dancing dolphins and tea tag.

Only joking.  Happy to see that you are venturing beyond what is required.

You are fun to have around.

:thankyou:  Mea!  Those were fun to try out.  Two of the dolphins turned out okay, but that back one is belly flopping a bit.  I think he had one too many.    :2funny:

I still need to update my pictures.  I hope to have time to do it this weekend - it really depends what happens with this storm as Irma should be going past in a few days.  I haven't had much time with pencil and paper, so I drew the dolphin mug again, but this time digitally.

This was drawn by hand using the digital 4B on it.  I am pretty sure I had already started it before Nolan mentioned using the 6B.  Either that, or I had CRS when drawing it.   :2funny:

I think the digital cup looked better, but it totally missed the concept of using line distance instead of shading to show shadows and highlights.  I hope this one demonstrates the concept better.

Pray you stay safe from Irma.

I admire your work with the digital program.  I haven't a clue how to do that.

Nicely done, I think it could use a bit more hatching on the left side for just a bit more shadow to give it a bit more rounding. Not bad at all

Thank you, Nolan!  I still need to get it finished.  Now that the hurricane madness is done and things have settled a bit, I had some time to work on a paper drawing today.  I decided to work on the Teddy Bear with the 6B pencil.  I used a different set of pencils, but thought my strongest one was 6B.  When I put my pencil away, I noticed it was 8B.   :2funny:   Oh well.  The drawing is actually darker than it looks when photographed.  It was interesting doing the whole thing with only one pencil.  A nice challenge.   :)

I used a new trick to get the outline done.  I found a light box app for the iPad.  I printed out a copy of teddy, then traced him using the iPad as a light source.
