I have been reading rave reviews of these paints. Below is what is said about them on the Dick Blick website. Anyone tried them

Yes, Val, I was the one.

Susan, I LOVE these paints and use them only when I am doing a really serious painting.

Here is the topic where I show all my experiments with them.

They are expensive but so dense in color saturation that you don't need much.    I got mine when they were 40% off.

Hope you give them a try.  My favorite is their quinachridone gold.  If you only buy one, that should be it.

I'm having serious discussions with myself about getting some. Sigh. Just when I thought my palette was all set. Maybe I'll replace my current paints with QoR when I run out. But, at my slower rate of painting these days, that could take a long time. On the other hand, I could get a sampler set...

Don't you hate it when you have arguments with yourself and neither side wins?!  :pullhair:

Could these WC be mixed with traditional ones?

Yes, Annie, I have mixed QOR with DaVinci, W & N, and whatever other brands I use.

But, I prefer to use them as true colors because they are so beautiful.

Trev,

It's a small employee-owned company in New York.  http://www.goldenpaints.com/about-us

I found out about them when they did a 2-hour free workshop here in Honolulu.  They gave out a whole bag of their products mostly for acrylics, but the 6-dot watercolor sample card got me hooked on them.

Just took a quick look at your review (March 27, 2015) of these paints, Mea, and they really do look brilliant in colour.
I have just fully stocked up on my brand at the moment so will not be getting any others at present, but have taken a note of the QoR paints.

Bea-Sue, maybe you will win this argument with yourself this time   :)
