I thought I was done, but looking at the photo I could do some 'touch ups' or add more color tint to the background?
The small fruit is called 'Five Finger' or star fruit.  Not easy to paint!  ~Liz

Nice still life, Liz.  Happy to see the exotic star fruit being used.  I love those.

Not sure just where to add more dark (or light) to give the eggplant more roundness.

Thanks, MaryAnne!  I should get more roundness by filling in the dark paint up to my pencil line on the left side of the eggplant.  When something has curves I think it helps to get closer to the painting rather than work on the easel.  I should bring out my table easel for these mini paintings.  I totally missed painting the contour.  Do you see the rough edge? ~Liz

Yup, I see it, Liz.  You should be able to fix that easily.

:thankyou: EVERYONE, for always encouraging me!  I appreciate you all, Paint Basket and Dennis and Nolan!  I think I have nearly 10 mini paintings now that just need to be signed.  I am getting used wood frames in good condition from a thrift shop run by the church which happens to be the one sponsoring the fund raiser.  So I don't suppose I will be paying much for them! And I will certainly be surprised if folks like the cherry paintings as Nolan said they do.  :)

MAL, I did the touch up on the eggplant!

So proud of you, Liz.

When is the silent auction?  Where?

Hey, I worked with Jack Lee today to hang the Association of Hawaii Artists show at 1132 Bishop St. today.  Our reception is Friday night from 5 to 7.  I have two paintings.  I feel honored as they were put into the display case instead of on the walls.

:flowers: :flowers: :flowers: Good for you, MaryAnne!  I don't have the details yet, but I know it's in Oct. at Central Union Church.  I was told about this annual event too late last year to donate anything. -Liz

Thanks, Patricia.  My placement in the display case was probably because my paintings were small and we were running out of wall space!

Still, though, they look mighty nice as they are the first thing to view when one enters the gallery.

MAL, did you post those 2 small paintings on PB? Or did I miss them?  Did Jack have any work to exhibit, too?  I love his Chinatown water color. ~Liz

Actually, I had posted them quite a while ago (Hokulea at Kahana Bay - line and wash)  and Schooling Bannerfish - watercolor.

Jack entered a couple paintings.

Will take photos at the reception on Friday evening.
