Yes Val, I could not put my heart and soul into this day in and out if I did not love doing it. I can honestly say I have found my passion.

To find and live one's passion is one of the greatest gifts of all.
Good on you Zilpa.

Val, Patricia and Sharon. There is never a dull moment, each day is different, with new people to talk to. The owner of the builing has a 7 year old daughter, who was asked by her friend if she could come over for a play date so that she can meet the artist. She told her mum she wants to be as good as me. That to me is worth more than any sale.

What a cute story. Yup, experiences like that make the day worthwhile. Without even realizing it, you are mentoring the next generation of artists.
Good for you.

Yes indeed, that is what it is about. I had never had so much fun as when sitting sketching or splattering paint with the local kids in places we have stopped. I gave away far too many of my good drawing pencils last year, but seeing the joy of what a single pencil and notebook can bring to a child is priceless. Especially when it doesn't involve schoolwork!
Those are the times when life truly is worthwhile.

You all amaze me with your generosity of spirit. Our local art teacher is a peculiar little old man who actively discourages the students from commenting on each other's work. We do, of course, behind his back.

all, art is about sharing and encouraging. The more you give, the more you receive. The same little girl I mentioned earlier, was sitting painting with a small set of acrylic paints on printing paper, so I went home, got her a palette and some decent paper and a couple of little canvas boards I had laying around. It made her day, and every weekend she visits me in the gallery with a new painting she has done. I think I am marking time, till the parents take the building back for her to show her work in.

That's brilliant Zilpa. I can't help giving away my pencils especially when one of the kids shows real interest. Shall have to look into more decent sketchbooks soon!

What a lovely way to go broke, Val!
Maybe you should look for a sponsor to pay for the sketchbooks? would probably be nice for you to be able to keep a pencil or two for yourself too otherwise we might never see another Val masterpiece!
