Tried doing a quick sketch of a rooster using micron pen and colored pencil (unwashed).

Had fun.  Happy to say I did the rooster freehand!!!

Whatcha think?

Thanks, Val.  Here's the best I could do tweaking the eye and I "washed" all the colored pencil.

Very good Mea, you are becoming queen(?) of the roosters!  ;D Good freehand sketch, just the eye seems a bit too human in shape. Otherwise..... well done!

Thanks, Val and Kathy.

My cottage guest is going to get it as she is remodeling her home here.  She loved it and said the colors match the colors in the new chairs she bought.  Even ran out to her car to show me the cushions.  YUP -- aqua, gold, and brown.  Even has a brown mat.

OK, on to the next project.

Did a plein air sketch while having a glass of wine at my favorite resort - Turtle Bay.  Enhanced it with watercolor pencil, but did not "wash" it because the paper was too thin.  It's not great, but it made me feel good.

Caused quite a stir as the wait staff loved having a "working artist" in the house.  Got good service and lots of oohs and ahhs.

NEW - improved version after "washing" the color.

Nice colors MEA. You are joining the "travel and paint" school!

Thanks, Brian.  But I have a long way to go to catch up to you.

I have a fabulous place for us to do plein air in Hawaii.

Loving your sketches, Mea! Glad you went a little bolder on the rooster. Can't believe you can sketch and drink wine at the same time!! Maybe the restaurant can give you free wine while you paint at their place - it could be a good tourist attraction to get folks into the restaurant. Eat a meal and see the fabulously talented Mea paint at the same time!
Cheers,
Sharon

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Sharon.  I am still too much of an amateur for that.

Are you planning on any plein air classes Mea? This would be a fabulous outing for your group. Actually it would be a great outing for anyone! Nicely done painting.

Yes, Val.  We talked about it but some of my seniors have mobility issues (even though the beach is less than 200 ft. from our building).  BUT, we have a gorgeous view of the mountains outside our door, so we will give that a try later this month.

Mea:  Your rooster is cute.  Love the beach scene.  The washes evened out the shadws.  Keep going.
