Folks, am getting old... have quite a few books about painting and about art that I'll probably have donated to a museum after I'm gone... but I do have one very very interesting book entitled the Clyclopedia of Painting published in 1906 and believe it or not was first owned by George C. Scott, the actor (of Patton as well as a hundred other films fame).. What makes this book especially important to me all these years is not that it has Scott's handwritten marginalia all over the place but that it is a very concise dictionary of color formation (what colors to mix to get what final color... page after page of detailed formulae) as well as etchings of every brush imaginable with descriptions not only as to how they were made but how to use them...

I had it appraised for auction... Ten grand plus USD is the low ball (not just because of the George C. Scott, not because of the fact that the book is rare is in excellent condition and has been out of print forever but because of it's content)... well I'm a nice guy and I suspect Nolan or some other very young artist might want this for their collection and being of somewhat sound mind and body these days... I'll let it go for 1/4 of what it's worth just to forego the pain in the butt of dealing with the auction sharks...

email me at don't know if this is cosher Dennis, but I really don't want to expire and have this treasure be sold for five bucks at at garage sale after my demise... There's an album of images for everyone to view should anyone be interested.....
Never be afraid to fail, because after all, "fail" actually stands for "the first attempt in learning". Robert

That's a generous offer! Kind of you to think of paint basket members as a first option.  :thankyou: but but it is still out of my league. However may you have many happy healthy years yet. :gl2:

$10,000 is Ten Grand in US terms.  (Robert, that is not my bid, just an explanation for Annie)

Good luck, like real estates and art... the price is whatever a buyer is wiling to pay for.
