Well, I finally decided to jump in the watercolor pool. This is a lot different from oils or acrylics, but Dennis made it look easy. All I can say is I learned a lot with this first lesson and have a bunch more to learn.
I tried taking this photo with my tablet, but it didn't work out as well as I'd hoped.

Welcome to the 'Wellies' club!
It is quite a change from the acrylics and oils isn't it? May I say you have made that jump into your first 'puddle' picture with great elan!
Great job Steve
I can see you've learned your blending techniques well, it's just more practice to get the balance between water and paint just right and wow...it is such a rush when you nail it. You are well on your way already by the looks of this. Bravo!

Yeah Steve! I'm so glad you've joined us in the WC club!
You did great on the cosmos.
Watercolor is exciting and fun. Sometimes frustrating too.
Being a living medium, it can take its own course. As someone who likes to micro manage everything, watercolor is excellent "let it go therapy". Dennis gives a lot of valuable detail and instruction. I love that he has fun with it, laughs at his "mistakes", and turns them into gems.

Yay, Steve is now a watercolorist, too!!
Beautiful cosmos, Steve.
Hey, when I did this as my first watercolor, I mixed up my tubes of watercolor and oil and used both. Believe it or not, it came out pretty good. Looking at it now, I know I can do much better.

Thanks, everyone! I had a lot of fun doing this...and made quite a few mistakes along the way. Color mixing is a bit different. Some of my pinks turned out a nice peach color. And I went way too dark on the stems. But I was able to lift out a lot of it and make it look better. Oh, well, it's all part of the fun of learning!

Robynann, I really don't think its as bad as you think it is. You've done a very good job overall and you're ready to move on.
I find that sometimes when things don't work out, I move on and not long down the road something clicks and it all makes sense. That's why it is important to follow the plan .... not jump about like ahem someone we know
