Just finished this painting for the bedroom that  my grandchildren use when they stay. I know the youngest one will like it as she is obsessed with turtles. The oldest one is on a school camp at present to see baby turtles hatching.

Oh, TeresaM, your grandkids will love this.  So well done.  Bright.

If it's not too late, maybe some lighter water above the turtle to suggest sunlight above.  And a little darker water below to suggest depth.

Otherwise, great job.

:thankyou: Dennis, TennMom, Val, EmmaLee and Bill.
Thanks for your comments Mea. I did try to lighten the top but my paint was just blending in too much  and I didn't want to stuff the painting.
Initially to paint the water evenly I had to cover the area of the unpainted turtle with masking tape, otherwise I was having a halo around the turtle. I didn't want to have to recover the painted turtle as it may have taken some of the layers of paint off the turtle,  so decided to leave it as is.

Teresa,

I see what you mean.  Caution seemed the prudent thing to do in that case.

I like the coral shelf in the bottom corner.... just the right degree of vagueness. Love the turtle too, of course!

 :thankyou: for your comments.
I thought the painting needed the coral shelf added as the picture of just the turtle seemed a bit bare. I painted it first  but then it was too bright so then painted a sea colour wash over it.
