Acrylic used like Watercolour. Tutor: Dennis
I'm posting this here because I can't find the New Topic button on either Acrylic Classes or Watercolour Classes. I've been dying to try this alternative acrylic class for ages, and here is my attempt. It's a poor photo, I'm sorry, but there's been no sunshine for days and the phone camera insists on using flash because of the low light. (Which bleaches the colours.) Had all sorts of technical difficulties because I used poor quality paper (more like blotting paper.... when will I learn?) and the masking fluid tore off strips of paper when I tried to remove it. Despite all that I find I quite like the painting and will probably try the technique again, on better quality paper!
PS: Mea, I used your idea of writing my signature in a mask before painting. I used a Schminke masking pen. Not the most elegant signature, but I quite like the effect anyway. I think this was the only bit of masking fluid that didn't tear the paper!

    Linley, despite the difficulties you experienced, you did a fine job.  Your signature also turned out well.   Patricia

Linley,

I really like this.  Nice job on the rocks.  The signature looks good.

i also watched this class just recently and applied the technique in another painting.  But definitely will try this one to get the practice needed.

Patricia, Mea, Cathy and Bill: :thankyou: for your kind words.
Cathy,  on which painting did you use the technique?

Thankyou, both Nolan and Theresa. I used many of the techniques Dennis demonstrated in my little painting Walkway to the Beach.

This is great Linley! I just finished packing away my older paintings and sketches, funny enough I did a sketch of this a while back. Will have to post it after the move. There's just something about this little scene that took my fancy. You have done a lovely job with it.  O0
