I had problems with my stylus catching on the gold foil, not sure if my stylus is getting blunt or whether the board was faulty. Difficult to stop tearing.

Wow! Great detailing in this.     I only tried the foil paper a couple of times, I kept catching the foil. Too heavy handed I guess. I do still have a few of the papers and a couple of nice boards left though.....     One day!

Val, i am teaching myself realistic portraiture on wood by wood burning (pyrography)

Have you had a look at Zilpa's gallery? She uses pyrography to lay out her paintings before applying the encaustics. Really brilliant. 

I hope you'll be posting some of yours as well.

Val just found your comment about this work and wondering if  you wear gloves this would stop the catching and yes a light hand is needed
