I have been sketching a lot when I was in Barcelona, and a friend who liked the sketches suggested I should made a painting on her wall in that style.
So I am making a design now. What I downloaded is still a first draft. I coulered it with coulormarkers.

Has anyone experience with painting on indoor walls?
Maybe the easiest would be with acrylic paint, I guess?

Dirk,

I have no experience with painting walls, but I assume latex wall paint would be much less expensive than doing acrylic.

Your design is quite lively and whimsical.  I like it.

Acrylic will give you more choice of colors, I've done paintings on flat plasterboard walls using cans of latex paint from the local hardware store. It all works so long as the surface has a layer of paint or gesso on it to stop the paint soaking into the plasterboard paper coating.
Using the grid method will get you to the appropriate scale.

Thanks Mea: it is a bit crazy. I first tried to do sketches of trees and such in a more naturalistic way but it did not work for me. Then it developped into this, which was quite a fun way to draw.
Thanks Brian, that's useful information. I believe the walls are painted so acrylics makes the most sense to me. If it turns out to be a one time projects I can still use the paint for regular paintings.
 :thankyou:
Dirk

Late as always it seems...    but just thought I'd stick in my two cents.  :cost:     I have met numerous artists in my travels through the Caribbean that did very large acrylic paintings with acrylic house paint. Some brilliant works at that.
Cheers, Val

Thanks Val. I had to look up the two cents expression. So I am learning some English along the way.

My mom wants me to paint a mural on her gate at her house - maybe I'll try on a piece of wood first using the house latex paints...Would love to see you try your mural first, Dirk!!
Cheers,
Sharon

Thanks Sharon,

It will be only in september, when my friend is back in her house in Amsterdam.
Until that time I have lenghty discussions with her about the design.
